I noticed that myself for this Friday's episode, yet the Christmas appearance doesn't usually start until Christmas Eve!
Well they've already started the now traditional Rennie sponsorship adverts, and of course festive promos so I'm guessing we won't be waiting that long.

More rubbish to have to pause out when recording. No wonder the BBC always wins the Christmas battle...
I would suggest that anyone wanting to get the 'long' and 'first' version of the new BBC1 Christmas ident then you should video it before that Party Songs programme.

Its more less said that it will air from then.
Can you, or anyone else for that matter, confirm what time the BBC Two ident will air out first at?
BBC2's ident will debut at 18:30 before flog it. Strangely, not at 17:50 before One Man and his Dog. This also happened last year (at exactly the same times as well!) If the first one to be shown though is the 2001 tree ident, I will hit the roof!
I remember last year I saw the BBC One Christmas ident, purely out of coincidence, then switched over to BBC Two to see the Christmas Tree ident and thinking 'I'm sure I've seen this before'. Are you therefore certain that it was launched at 18.30 because BBC One launched there's after the news at 17.45 and so when I switched over it would have been around 17.50.
I do think that Christmas Tree will air first though, it is somewhat a BBC Two tradition!
It was definitely 18:30 last year. BBC1 debuted theirs at 17:45, then on BBC2, Bounce was used into "One Man and his Dog" at 17:50.
I agree that the 2001 ident will be the first shown. If so, then it's level with Channel 4 in using a Christmas ident 5 years on a trot. Burn the mastertapes!

Haha, although out of the three, I'd prefer to see the 2001 one over the other two - that one is far more Christmassy than a snowman or ice cube!
