The Christmas Day ratings are out and they're disappointing nonetheless.

The top rating show was Mrs Browns Boys with 7.61 million, down from 9.4 million last year.

That's reflective of an average Saturday Night! Very poor ratings overall from both channels.

But unlike previous years, Personally I didn't think the schedules were great this year, nothing new just Christmas Specials of the same shows.

It was a pretty poor Christmas Day schedule from both channels, same old same old. Boxing Day looks much more interesting.

I was quite amazed to see that the Queen got slung on BBC 2 at a later hour?

Has this ever happened in previous years? I can't ever remember the Queen being on at any other time than 3pm on BBC1?

It's been repeated at 5pm on BBC Two for quite a while now, Sky News repeat it on the hour from 4.30 as well.

The original broadcast was 3pm on all three channels (BBC One, ITV, Sky News) as usual. The Beeb produced it this year.

And she still was on BBC 1 (and ITV) at 15:00 hrs.

BBC 2 have always repeated her speech early evening, and so did C4 until a few years ago

Not too surprised though I did think EastEnders would nudge it this year as it had been the most hyped Christmas episode in a few years - however depressing it seemed to be.

I don't think the BBC do themselves any favour packing it all in to one night - taking one or two shows out could strengthen other nights and make Christmas look stronger as a whole without particularly weakening Christmas Day.

Miranda could have been scheduled on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day without affecting the Christmas Day share.

Personally I felt EE was the best show of the night, the storyline was as good as anything they've done with major EE plots.

I wonder if decline in share is due to the fact that viewers are using VOD more? The programmes affected, such as Who and MBB are on iPlayer which is on virtually every smart tv.

What a shame, Doctor Who's Christmas Special made people stop watching Doctor Who...Damn you Moffat.

Yes, though I don't think Channel 4 have shown it in about 20 years now. They didn't have their "Alternative Message" this year. Is this the first time? Wasn't it the president of Iran or something last year?

Radio 4, the World Service, 5 Live and quite a few regional stations broadcast it at 3pm too, though I seem to remember Radio 4 broadcasting it in the morning in the 80s.

C4 did have their alternative Christmas message this year - it was delivered by William Pooley, the NHS nurse that caught and then recovered from Ebola earlier in the year.

It was on earlier than The Queen this year - 1.50pm.

I know a lot of people sky plus etc the programmes but as others have said the listings are crap, BBC1 looks like same line up for the past couple of years.
