I thought Russia used the same calendar as us now cos earlier in the last century (God, that makes me sound old!) they used their calendar to plan when to go to the olympics and turned up 2 weeks late because their calendar was different to the one we use!

CNN - in typical CNN 'We're better than you' style - did a stupidly large programme that just required them to dispatch a lot of people. There was no new studio, just a few nice changes to the graphics.

The music was fantastic. If anyone does want to hear it then I'll upload it, but it's rather large so I can't be arsed if no-one wants it.

I spoke to one of the people in CNN's programming dept. the other day and they actually waited until the BBC and Sky announced their plans and just did a bigger programme - very sad.

Their coverage of Yeltsin wasn't actually that bad, though. They had their Moscow person in... Moscow, can't remember her name now, but she's very good. I think she was sent off to Tokyo a few months ago.

These countdown astons were bloody useless. They stayed on screen saying '00:00 until midnight in Moscow' for about 30 seconds, looked a bit stupid.

This really should be in the millennium thread...
