Anybody know yet, or is it too early. Who will do the BBC1 & ITV main bulletins on Christmas Day ?

Normally go for a lower key presenter don't they ? I'm guessing Darren Jordan or George Alaghia on BBC One, maybe Mark Austin or Nick Owen on ITV ?

Some presenters apparently like to work Christmas Day if they have no immediate family as they get to be with friends and colleagues rather than alone in a flat somewhere.

This is of course not really what the topic is about so I'll be quiet.

Awwww, Steve, that's so sad, to think of those media luvvie types without any friends. Sad

What a sad lonely existence they must lead, I think I'm going to cry.

PS. Bet Peter Levy wishes he could be in on Christmas Day !

I bet he pleads with the boss of BBC News in London to let him do something somewhere on Christmas Day!

And I know all these celebrities with no real friends... it's a hard life - still so long as they come to my media conference.

Funny you should say that, but it was Tom Ingall on Look North last Boxing Day. (Of course no Look North on Xmas Day).

Maybe he spent the day with his lady friend, that Paul is always commenting on.

Of course, the biggest 'big' names get too big for their boots, I doubt we'll see Trevor McDonald from Friday 21st December until 2nd or 3rd December.

They're getting rid of Sir Trev for nearly a year? Surely this is an exclusive?!

Sorry, couldn't resist Smile

Helen Wright did ITV News on Christmas Day last year.

Money, that's what that's all about, triple time etc. Can any of us who are employed by a company who needs someone in on Christmas Day say any different?

I'm ususally **** ed by about 7am, but last year it was Darren Jordan on the Beeb and Jeremy Thompson and Fiona McDiarmid on Sky. See what a good memory I have?

Sky are different, though, they're international and whilst I think the top story last year was something about father christmas they still broadcast to a lot of countries - there's heavy Sky viewing in the middle east - which do not celebrate christmas.

I'm hoping for some snow on that newswall of theirs.

Or they might turn the globe at the top of the hour into a christmas pudding again.

That's something I find a bit silly; do you think a Middle-East news channel would tone down Islamic celebrations to appease westerners?

Slightly unlikely...
