I agree with the issues with the High Street. Indeed, I wonder if we will have shops at all in 20 years from now, apart from supermarkets. I'm straying into Metropol territory here, but how much longer do even the big sites, the likes of Bluewater, Fosse Park, Merry Hill etc., have left?
Off topic here but these things are often cyclical. We'll get to a point where people wonder if rather than ordering online they could go to a place where they could see and try the products and take them home there and then.
Indeed vaguely bringing it back on topic to Argos and their ad I notice now one of our local stores has moved into Sainsburys they hardly hold any stock and you have to wait till it is delivered to store or get it delivered. The ads must pay though - John Lewis spends millions after all

I really don't like where John Lewis are going here.
To be fair, we haven't yet seen the finished product. Not long to wait now.

Seen it, have you?
Not really any need for that, there’s been speculation about it and from recent looks of things like that video it could be correct. I’m open minded about it all and I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s actually about but an advert completely consisting of Elton John seems to be a hit and miss concept with people. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.
I don’t think it’s going to go down well, to be honest.

Has Elton got a taste for adverts now after that awful Snickers attempt?
Didn't he advertise Royal Mail circa late 1990s/early 2000s?
