I'm not even 43 1/4 yet ....that's on October 1st.

And whether you like it or not, Christmas is around the corner now. In less than a month's time, Christmas adverts will air and department stores will be putting their decorations up. Last year, my closest department store, John Lewis Sheffield, put their decorations up on October 6th.

And by the way, it's Steviewizzywick.

Selfridges in Birmingham has their "Christmas Shop" set up, and the foyer of Next is full of Christmas cards.... All much to early - nothing should appear until the start of November at the earliest IMO.

As for some of these Christmas programme ideas, some sound a bit far-fetched to me...

According to the guide...

This year's BBC schedule will be like nothing you have ever seen before. A few programmes will move channels for the Festive period to make way for exciting new comedy and drama on BBC One. But don't worry, the BBC Two 'foster parents' will look after your favourites, and they will be repeated on BBC One over the New Year period.

It seems more than a little doubtful that the Beeb would come out with this kind of badly written drivel, and would also produce a brochure with a number of pages not divisible by 4 - hence having two completely blank pages, especially if they're going for 'big and snazzy'. Though really, that's more of a book than a brochure.

If you will insist on posting rubbish, at least try and make it plausible, or it's no fun.

Thanks Joe, but the superiority complexes that some have on this forum is beyond me......if TVMERCIA gets a kick out of calling me a tit, then that's his prerogative.....after all Joe, you and I may enjoy festive presentation and all the glitz of special occasions, we may occasionally even prematurely talk about the event that is Christmas.....but it is not us who are being insulting, therefore it takes one tit to criticise another. I can actually imagine tantrums in the playground by some you know......

I hope we can continue our discussions on our favourite subject without being insulted by others, if we are insulted, then so be it.

As I was in London today, I thought I may pop into TV Centre and look up some old friends, and there on Reception was this big snazzy brochure entitled, "Guide to Christmas Schedules on the BBC".

Any, what crap have that decided to fund this year...

BBC One for example have, Kermit's Christmas Capers, Interactive Top Of The Pops, Blackpool, Gimme Gimme Gimme: After, He's Having A Baby: First Christmas, dinnerladies Revisited, The East Enders Christmas Party, Shannis: Our Story, Two Pints of Lager... and a Christmas Pudding - The Musical Part 2 and Out Take TV.

BBC Two has got specials of The Grren Green Grass and Little Britain, BBC Three is headlining with Swiss Tony and BBC Four are showing a special Trauma Uncut.

I mean, why can't the BBC do anything else?

Oh, if you want a copy of the brochure, you will have to call the BBC - I'm f****** if I'm photocopying 182 pages!

Twaddle, Twaddle Twaddle.....

I see you don't mention the following:
Sweeny Todd starring Ray Winstone, French and Saunders Christmas Special (filmed in July), Doctor Who (everyone knows that BBc1 will be highlighting this as a jewel in their Christmas Crown) and movies. It is films that show at Christmas on BBc1 especially, that keep people interested. Pirates of the Carribbean is scheduled for broadcast soon as is Chicago and Calendar Girls.

Victoria Wood writing a new Dinnerladies? Why? The series ended in a way that making more would be unbelievable and contrived.

Gimme Gimme Gimme? Possibly, but I feel the show has been gone too long now for it to be a success. BBC1 will show crowd drawers at Christmas. They will leave the experimentation and new surreal shows to BBC 3, BBC1 will not be allowed to have fewer viewers....Peter Fincham will want his first Christmas as controller to be excellent.

I have just rung the BBC and asked for a copy of their glitxy new Christmas brochure.......needless to say they didn't have a clue what I was going on about!

Just because you say something doesn't mean that no-one else can speak!!!

This forum is no longer a friendly place.....it is full of bitchy blokes who think they're clever. It's supposed to be a discussion about TV presentation, not about throwing insults at each other. I have learned alot about people this past two weeks. On Monday I buried my wife after she lost a fight with a brain tumour, and not once did she complain about anything, she never blamed anyone, critiscised anything or was nasty about anything. This forum was supposed to take my mind off things, instead I turn the computer on and for no reason at all am subject to insults and "picky" comments by people who think they are clever.

Well, you are not clever....my wife was. That is all I am going to say about this topic, this forum is not the place to talk about such personal things and I apologise for doing so. I just wanted to get things back in perspective.

If I want to talk about "Christmas" "Easter" or Ulrika Jonssen's arse, I bloody well can.....without rudeness and insults from others. Fun, friendly mickey taking is one thing, but rudeness is totally unacceptable.

You have my sincerest sympathy.

All I meant was that I could have saved you a phone call. Nothing else. I haven't been rude (in this case - and I only ever am if it's deserved). If someone wants to talk about Christmas programmes and presentation that's obviously fine - but this thread was started on the basis of someone's imagination.
