I like the way they've redone the end of the advert to incorporate their new jingle at the end. And kept it in 4:3...

I'm sure it was the '97 version they showed last year too.

After that it gets a bit confusing...some years they try new ads, sometimes they re-use the trucks, this year they're doing both.

I think they've used both the trucks and a new ad for the past few years, with the version of the trucks that aired last night being the one they introduced last year.

Seems they've changed the instrumentals, with slightly lower pitch vocals and an additional line to extend them to the end of the ad. I wonder whether this is a later edit, or if this is a version for the States and we're getting the version posted on the first page. Personally I prefer the first version we saw.

I like John Lewis' adverts, they have a certain quality feel to them, and the soundtrack choices are pretty good.

I agree with you there, they have a good feel to them without having to resort to the visual effects some other ads have. Their soundtrack choices do seem to go down well, Ellie Goulding is now #4 on iTunes, and I remember the soundtrack to the previous ad doing well in the charts and gaining radio airplay also.

Still no signs of the recreated Toys R Us ad? With the odd old building and logo at the start and new building and logo at the end.

I think "Holidays are coming" and "There's a magical place" are iconic for my generation anyway.

For me (age 26) it's not Christmas unless I see:

Andrex : http://youtu.be/Is26EbWvp-8

I see they've airbrushed "Always" from the back of the truck.

It first aired on the 18th November last year so it could be just around the corner. Hope so anyway.

Well they're using the lyrics in their promotional literature... just a question of when, I think. Wink

That's good to see about Toys R Us.

Loved the new Sainsbury's advert, that's the best of the bunch of new ones this year so far.

Wasn't it only brought back last year for the 20th anniversary? I wouldn't expect it to see it this year (the original last appeared in Christmas 2000, and last year's was re-animated) but I'd certainly hope so.

I remember the Andrex puppy ad from 1993 Very Happy One of my earliest ad memories along with the Maynards Wine Gums one!
