Christmas Adverts

November 1st and the Christmas ads have started. Channel 4 have just shown one for Sony's "VAT back" offer with the tagline, "happy Christmas from Sony".

Oh and a little part of "Holidays Are Coming" (Coca-Cola) was played out on Fire Radio this afternoon.

Derek Jacobi has betrayed us all.

The Argos one with Bing Crosby, I'm not sure what to make of it, it's well made, but I don't like it like it.

It feels like a sequel to the Singing in the Rain advert done a few years back, same techniques probably.

I think the Sony one is fantastic. It almost makes me not want to complain about Christmas-related stuff before December.

Coca Cola will launch a new global (in over 90 countries) featuring a new song by 'Train'.

In the UK, the 'Holidays Are Coming' commercial will play for a month from 12th November followed by the new commercial above from 13th December. Also fairy-lit Coca Cola trucks will tour the UK for five weeks from 11th November offering samples and entertainment with a Christmas choir and brass band.

I don't know about you but I'm liking the new ad.

Like the Coke advert, Ibet it is the short Holidays one with the kid ringing the bell, the big question is what is John Lewis and M&S doing this year?

You mean the edit that now ends with the poor lad having missed the trucks after running a country mile to see them, cutting the original conclusion where the neon Santa granted him a Coke and a wink as compensation?

Grr, stop being so stubborn and give us 16:9 HD Trucks! The new advert is charming though, even if the soundtrack is rather weak.
