Well if the kids are upset at the John Lewis advert, heaven help them when they see The Snowman on Channel 4 this Christmas, when that nasty morning sun melts him.

For goodness sake a child crying over the melted snowman is just crying because they are a child. Children cry over falling without as much as a mark. Children cry over all sorts of things they think are bad.
The parents that complain about it have no sense.

The Sainsbury's ad definitely works better in the shorter version, the full cut is a little bit drawn-out. There are some nice touches in it, though, like the "zero emissions" horse-drawn wagon.
There's also a
very
subtle throw back to Elton in this year's John Lewis advert... well, there's the line "candle in the wind(ow)" anyway
