They have kept the same song/tune (well the first verse), with another new animation. Instead of the spinning star from space, they have a 3D computer model of a toys r us store constructed into a spaceship flying down and landing on earth.

Yes the minute shops close on Christmas Eve, most adverts are for sales, "Doors Open Boxing Day 10am" of course, or commercials saying 'merry christmas from such and such' in some occasions

A question for those that remember last year and previous years.
I was thinking earlier of what adverts are shown on christmas day. Commercial channels show adverts still, but what adverts on christmas day, and infact christmas eve.
As shops aren't open and people wont want christmas things, so do they advertise for sales, or do you get advertisers with commercials 'have a happy christmas day from woolworths!'? But perhaps christmas eve night more. As shops are shut the following day.

No I don't think it was. Last years was the same as the year before where the start looks like a catherine wheel, ending up with the Toys 'R' Us star logo with the star in the centre, and a camera zooming in on the building.
This years is like a space station/store that lands on the earth.
Is it just that they have replaced the second verse with the adverts for the toys? Or did they still used to have the toy promotion in there too?

From past experience we'll probably get New Year sales at B&Q, DFS, SCS, House of Fraser, The Trafford Centre, Homebase or any sofa shop. Plus dependent on where you'll live, we'll get adverts for Careline, if they're still doing that.
But the one that cannot be beat is......
#YTV'S CHRISTMAS LINE, ON LEEDS DOUBLE FOUR, EIGHT, ONE, NINE NINE.#
Classic IMO.

Actually, they had BOTH last year, with the spaceship one coming a few weeks after the 2001 one and then running concurrently. The spaceship one was a little different than this years though, as the classic tune was absent.
