ASDA, WOOLWORTHS, TESCO & HMV are to launch their Christmas campagne this November.
Almost all chains will launch their Christmas promotions in November.
And they're all coming out now.
Just watching TV this morning, I've seen...
The Sainsburys advert: where Jamie reminises about Christmas as a child, and how Christmassy's become samey the older you get, so try something new today, etc.
Voiced by Jamie Oliver, with a slight Christmas mix of 'Reach for the Sun', the tune that they're using on their Try Something New Today adverts
The Asda advert: Where Santa uses a giant catapult to fire himself from his home, you then cut to the store and look at all of the Christmas offers, before Santa drops into the store into a big pile of products. Voiced by Alexander Armstrong, and I'm sure that they're using a new Christmas Mix of music.
The Woolworths advert: Wolly and Worth are inside an advent calender, where they follow a shooting star to one of the doors on the calender, or they're snowmen that burst out from under the polystyrene, sorry snow, and then they look at the door that opens to reveal an offer, plus I'm sure that there are many other variations. Very nice and festive. Voiced by the usual voice, sounds like old T4 host Margherita Taylor, not sure if it is though. The music, which is a bit of a shock is 'Tis the Season To Be Jolly' rather than Walking In a Winter Wonderland.
DFS's Christmas campaign is out of the traps too, a variation on their "save money on..." campaign, thankfully no "Closest Thing to Crazy", been in most ad breaks I spotted on UTV and ITV1 this morning.
Also, saw that awful Fairy Power Spray ad with Ainsley Harriot earlier too.
They had one with the "Holidays are coming" tune, but it wasn't the old one with the trucks (though IIRC, the trucks appear at the very end). There's always the same old ads that pop up every year though- the Yellow Pages & Hellman's Mayonnaise ones among others.
Maybe the old will return this year. In 2000 they had a different advert that still featured the trucks, but not the 'Holidays are Coming' theme, and in 2001 the old one was back.
