Not advert related but Sky Movies have started showing their Christmas movies already... Miracle on 34th Street with good old Dickie Attenborough has started being shown... I think they eventually stopped showing last year's Christmas movies in April!

I should note that Love Actually has been shown on Sky Movies most weeks of this year since it was premiered last Christmas. There are some Christmas films that are shown all year round due to their popularity, such as Love Actually, but I remember Home Alone 2 being shown all year round on Sky Premier in 2001.

You can beat a bit of Home Alone 1&2 with Harry and Marv on the box at Christmas Laughing

From the TVF archives...it looks as though the first proper Xmas promotion ad (which i mentioned then) was the Boots advert featuring Harry Hill as a doctor. That started in late October (if archive dates are correct Confused ), so no doubt in 2 weeks time we'll see Harry Hill dressing up as a reindeer and crawling on the floor again!

Nice to see the original Toys R Us advert again. The music is pretty much still the same - except they cut the second verse.

I think the Hellmanns and Yellow Pages (Mistletoe) ads are the last of the oldies in the run up to Christmas.

Looking forward to the ads anyway! (and QVC Wink )

Makes it feel like Christmas and get the decorations up now rather than later. Maybe I'm being a little over keen.

With Boots' financial difficulties, will we see them advertising as early this year! Though they have just announced £2 billion from a sale of one of their divisions, plus the merger earlier this week, and of course I suppose advertising may boost revenues somewhat, especially running up to christmas.

So 17/10 for boots, and a few others judging from last years!

I noticed yesterday that Boots in Bradford have already put their christmas decorations up, so the campaign must be starting soon.

So have John Lewis in Sheffield. Same modern, untraditional white decor again.

Christmas decorations will be up in your local Bhs stores from tomorrow, think of those poor people who are working 6pm til 6am tonight having to set it all up. Me not being one of them cos I'm too lazy... Wink

6pm to 6am just putting decorations up? jee..glad i don't work there! Laughing

I have to complain about the lack of decoration and festivities in my local Debenhams store last year. I hope they do better this time.

No doubt we'll get adverts for new Christmas CD compilations from classical/jazz stars soon i.e Bryn Terfel and Hayley Westenra (already seen). To think Charlotte Church used to be in that list!

Who's buying 'Cliff at Christmas' and 'Christmas with Daniel O'Donnell' this year then? Laughing
