Spotted my first non-hamper Christmas advert on TV last night, a return to the screens for the Air Wick Winter Scents ads with Scrooge that was shown last year. A bit early, there's still well over two months to go...
Note: this may not strictly be the first time the ad has been shown this year.
Therefore it won't be long till Argos and Boots roll out their campaigns, and will the Coca-Cola trucks be rolling back into town this year? And will it be a 14th year in a row for the Good Old Yellow Pages ad?
Yes, goody, that means my fave Toys R Us advert will be on again. I absolutely love that tune.
Remember, though, that the original animation hasn't appeared since 2000. At least they've still kept the tune, though, which dates back to at least 1989.
How long has that Helmann's Mayonnaise advert been going, sung to the tune of the 12 Days of Christmas?

I thought it was the same animation. Or it was very similar, does anyone have the more recent advert by any chance?
- The Snowman. All day.
- The Alternative Xmas Message
- A funny comedy movie on Xmas day night
- Coca-cola, Yellow Pages, Hellmans, Toys R Us and Woolworths' adverts
- It's A Wonderful Life
- White Christmas
Things we can avoid this Christmas
- Eastenders / Corrie / Emmerdale
- Holby / Casualty
- Bad news (Iran earthquake, Asian tsunami, Blobby as Number One
- QVC (if you've ever happened to accidentally flick onto QVC at Xmas - its an upper-middle class paradise)
Course if you've got any semblance of decency you won't be watching TV, you'll be playing with all the nice goodies Satan - sorry Santa brought you.
Is it me or have the christmas ads started later this year, i remember around this time last year we had already been bombarded with adverts and christmas promotions in shops for weeks, maybe the publics opinion of "christmas gets earlier every year" finally hit home and now they are going to put their adverts on later in the year instead of a whole whitewash of christmas ads.

I doubt we will see any proper Xmas campaigns starting for quite a few weeks yet, its just a myth that Christmas gets earlier every year!. It doesn't help that this is probably the 5th christmas thread on TV Forum so far this year!
