Well, I think I have seen the first real Christmas advert for this year (and I don't mean the Christmas Clubs/Hampers that are shown straight after Christmas and New Year). Vanish Floor Cleaner, at the end of the advert, has the holly and Christmas emblazoned over it!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure what is worse talking about Xmas or dreaming about Idents Wink

Hope they don't bring out the same old crappy ads again. e.g. coca cola, m&s and Grouse whisky.

Also the usual scary Xmas movies like chitty, chitty bang bang and the Wizard of Oz are bound to be in the Xmas schedule. Yes, you read it right. They ARE scary movies; child catcher and wicked witch of the west are the stuff of nightmares.

Well in the eyes of the supermarkets, tomorrow is officially the start of getting prepared for the xmas season, i better start writing my prezzie list to send to Father Christmas.

Ok if i Pm it to you Mr. Nick? ( or should that be St. Nick)

Sorry to bring Christmas up again for those of you who hate it but I thought it was worth nothing that Coca Cola will be airing a new Christmas advert this year. I was reading about it today at work in a press release in a trade magazine called Neighbourhood Retailer. I don't have the actual magazine in front of me but it said they would be spending millions on a new advertising campaign as well as special Christmas branding across all of their products.

About time they came up with something new rather than rolling out the big trucks ad again! As much as I like it, it does get a bit boring when you've seen it over and over again!

The only certainty so far in the Xmas TV schedules is the programme that keeps popping up when the red-top papers put out their festive guides during November....

"To Be Announced".

No! They can rewrite the nativity but they can't axe the trucks - that ad is when you know Christmas is coming!

I doubt it'll disapear completly - usually it has run alongside new ads, usually being saved till nearer the date itself!

As soon as the boy with the angel wings appears - you know its Christmas. They can't axe the trucks!

I notice WHSmith have already started their Autumn to Winter-themed branding from last year. First celebrity being Peter Andre...yawn!

To be fair, the original trucks advert hasn't been used in years. Especially since about 2004 when they added a whole new bit to it.

In 2000 there was a different advert entirely, still featuring the trucks, but in 2001 they returned to the original. At least, what I presumed was the original.

The modern idea of Santa Claus was revived by the CocaCola company in the early 20th century. Before then, the notion of Father Christmas/Santa wasn't widely acknowledged as it is today.

You have the CocaCola company to thank for the jolly fat man with a white beard!
