From Media Guaridan...
"The Advertising Standards Authority has been inundated with complaints that Christmas ad campaigns are launching too early and that an Argos ad suggests that Santa may not be real.
The ASA started to receive complaints last week as a number of festive-themed campaigns - for Boots, Woolworths and Argos - rolled out almost two months before Christmas."

Madness, I'm sure we have had them roll out much earlier in recent years. This year most companies seem to have held off until November arrives which I think is acceptable - especially as alot of people buy their presents earlier and earlier as each year goes on.
As for Santa not being real - how dare they!

Lord of the Rings Return of the King is on Sunday 19th November, concluding Channel 4's Lord of the Rings series which starts this sunday. The commercial channels always will put there big budget blockbusters on before christmas, to rake in the cash from the advertisers.

Thinking about this year's Christmas TV, i was wondering if anyone knows somewhere which tells you which channels have the rights to which films?
This was one person's predictions on another forum:
BBC ONE
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (would be a perfect Christmas day movie imo- put it on straight before Who, aunty Beeb! Pretty please? )
Monsters Inc.
Elf
Bruce Almighty
Around the World in 80 Days (2004 versh)
Cold Mountain
BBC TWO
(Not sure really, could be anything to be honest; would bet on oldies-but-goodies, but...)
Spirited Away (could be a good bet as the BBC have the rights to this I think, and it's around about due a premiere)
ITV1 (none of these would actually be on Christmas Day or thereabouts sadly ¬_¬ but still somewhere around the beginning of December)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Red Dragon
Love Actually (this could possibly premiere somewhere near Christmas if ITV are feeling brave)
CHANNEL FOUR
Howl's Moving Castle
Shaun of the Dead
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
(OK, maybe the first two are just wishful thinking, but LotR3 is surely long overdue its premiere- 1 and 2 premiered some time last year I think :s)

Morrison's had a similar advert to Argos a couple of years ago, which showed a parent hiding the gifts from the children, blatantly saying that Santa doesn't exist and this was airing when children were likely to be watching. They obviously received complaints, because the following year they replaced it with an advert showing Santa (or Father Christmas
) walking around the store - the same one they're using this year - and the complete opposite to the previous advert.
I know it's a minor issue but I do believe that children of a young age should at least have that innocence - I know it always made Christmas for me when I was young.
Having said that, I don't think the Argos advert makes it as blatantly clear as the Morrison's advert - but I can understand why some parents would complain.

I agree. Marks and Spencer have had some great adverts this year, and their Christmas one is stunning. I love the theme of using the same models in each advert and this extended Christmas advert is great, and Shirley Bassey singing P!nk's 'Get the Party Started' is just the icing on the cake. And then the fireworks saying 'From Your M&S with love'.
Lovely.
