I don't see why the soaps have to be on for an hour on Xmas Day. Then again I don't see why they should be on twice on Mondays or 6 times a week etc etc

I agree, I dont see why they should be on an hour either but based on whats happened in previous years they probabaly will!

Last year because Christmas Eve and New Years Eve were Saturdays we didnt get soaps on those nights. We probabaly will this year.

Yes I believe we got Ant and Dec's Christmas Takeaway, WWTBAM and Stars in the Eyes so more of a typical Saturday schedule.

Personally Xmas Eve is more 'magical warm feeling' then xmas dayi itself. As xmas day tends to go so quick, then as soon as Boxing Day arrives, its countdown to New Year party ect.

Will EastEnders go out on Xmas Eve? As its a Sunday.

Probably. The BBC always do that sort of thing, or do they?

I'm glad we'll have a New Years Eve episode of CS this year, the death of a certain villain perhaps? And New Year's Day, probably a double episode too - fab! Very Happy

I remember a couple of Sunday episodes, the special one for Bianca and Ricky, the bomb scare ( was that a Sat or Sun?), and one with Nick Cotton giving drugs to Martin - i think - dont hold me to that. Im sure Banks knows Rolling Eyes Laughing

The BBC website has published dates of programme information releases. They have said that the Christmas Double Issue weeks of 23/12/06 onwards (weeks 52 and 1) will be available at a later date. Hope this clarifies when the Xmas mags will be riunning from!

I agree, and Christmas Day itself is usually so hectic.

I expect we will get an episode of Corrie on New Years Eve - we got one set on New Year Eve last year year but it was shown on the Friday.

I don't tend to watch much TV on Christmas Day unless we all watch as a family. Its like its a law. Laughing "Vicar of Dibley Christmas Special or a game of Cranium?"

The BBC were the first to have a soap on Christmas Day. Obviously Corrie had in the past, but if I'm correct, only if Christmas Day fell on the day Corrie was usually on. If it didn't, then there was no Corrie. After EastEnders was so successful though ITV got in on the act, and now there's always a soap on Christmas day, regardless of what day it actually is.

I'm not too bothered really. I like my soaps on Christmas Day - I'd like some variety with it as well though, and ITV never bother at Christmas - so it's up to the BBC again. Anybody know what they have in store yet? Apart from Doctor Who and EastEnders.

Actually, they're getting just as bad. Laughing

Oh you just reminded me. Vicar of Dibley - it's the last one isn't it?

Shame they didn't save The Royle Family for then either. Oh well, roll on Sunday. Very Happy

Yes, I think up until the early/mid 1990s they only showed Corrie on Christmas Day when it fell on a Monday/Wednesday and after 1989 a Friday. There are so many episodes of the soaps these days though more often than not it falls on a day when the show would air anyway especially in the case of Emmerdale which is ridiculous at 6 episodes a week.

Only things I watched last year on Christmas Day were TOTP, Corrie and Doctor Who - I expect it will be the same this year.
