That slogan I believe is the one they'd used in the USA for ages, and presumably they were attempting brand alignment internationally.

Yet UK managed to create a better brand. Wink

Though you never even saw the middle part of that advert for most of its run, as they put an advert for a toy in it instead.

I beleive the slogan actually pre-dates Toys R Us even launching in the UK!

They seem to have re-mastered that advert:

Channel 5 have launched a kind of Christmas ident... at least it features a Christmas tree. It's another sponsored ident, this time by Very.co.uk. I assume a proper Christmas ident is still to come (probably a recycle of last years) as currently when this ident is not being used they use their regular idents (which this week, for Crime & Punishment week has mainly been the Law & Disorder ident from April 2014).

Anyway, here's the 'Christmas' ident:

Hopefully a different one will launch this year, I didn't think that last years felt Christmassy, more wintry - if that makes sense.

Yes as I recall, they went to the effort of recreating the advert and then a year later dropped it all for the new "I wanna be a Toys R Us" kid campaign with the CGI characters!

You'll notice Geoffrey has the "I'm a Toys R Us Kid" slogan on the back of his shirt in the remastered version. Actually looks like it might be there on the original too, but the video's not very good quality.

And nobody ever questions Toys R Us's use of child labour!

I don't think it was recreated, it looks like they've taken the original and digitally enhanced it.
