Christmas 2007

Coca Cola now rolls out same dull UK ad as last year. (October 2007)

The Toys R Us advert was fantasic and even though I'm now in my early twenties, I wish they'd bring it back. There's a full length copy on Youtube:

The two adverts that stood out for me last Christmas were the H Samuel one with 'Love Will Keep us Together' by Captain & Tenille, and the M&S one with Shirley Bassey. Argos made a good effort as well, but there's stil no getting away from the fact that it is Argos, and it will always be tacky no matter what the adverts are like.

What a showbiz lifestyle you lead!

Incidentally, I saw a Christmas ad for Lidl during Corrie on Monday (in Tyne Tees land).

And I recieved a leaflet promoting the Lidl Christmas market one week ago exactly. And it opened on Monday.

Now, tell me how on Earth a Christmas pudding will last two months until the actual event, Mr Lidl.

Saw a new Argos ad yesterday. Quite a clever one.

Christmas puddings last for a year don't they? I think we still have one in our cupboard from last Christmas that's still in date...

The woman in the Argos ad does make a very good point, it's only October (for another week anyway)

To make a point about ordering or pre-ordering gifts before the big Christmas rush. Idea

...thus creating a rush of pre-orders, meaning that the rush starts even earlier. Yipee.

I wonder if Argos will make a special Christmas advert like they did for the past couple of years with the ''don't shop for it, Argos it'' slogan. They have been good last year and the year before.

1st December will see the Coca Cola Christmas ad.

I'm imagining it'll feature Roy Wood..? Just a thought. Well at least they've ditched the "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" in every christmas ad break.
