To be honest I think Coca Cola want to get rid of it but are trying to phase it out slowly. Next year we'll only see it for a couple of days, the year after, we'll get one showing and that's it, and then a brand new advert to start the new decade. Sadly the age of adverts lasting for ages is going - if the Toys R Us advert launched now then there's no way they'd keep it for 11 years. I think the move to things like widescreen and high-definition means that instead of bothering to convert old adverts they just decide to make new ones instead. Holidays are going.
When DID the Coca Cola advert start, anyway? Mid-90s?

I think 2001, as Melanie Thornton wrote it in that year, although it may have aired in Germany only that year.
I think that could be right, before that of course 'the' Christmas ad was the Yellow Pages one with the boy kissing the girl under the mistletoe -in my opinion anyway.
I reckon the other Coca Cola ad is the one with drawing Santa at the fireplace giving a boy a bottle of coke.
Anyway I wonder if the Hellmann's Mayonnaise ad will air yet again this year?

The ad must of started in the 1990s, as always coca cola was phased out in 2000, and the son famously has that line. I think the Melanie Thorton song must of been based on the ad, because the coke ad has definately existed since the 90s.
And on another note, are people still seeing the coke ad? I only seen it once last Friday and haven't seen it since.

Also thinking about it and reading the email again, I think the other favourite coke ad is last years awful one. Its the only other one they mention in the email and they mention two. Hope i'm wrong though!
EDIT: Hmm the fact the emails says they are shown two of there best loved ads because of complaints by the British public, hmm there mgiht be another ad after all. Reading an email from coca cola is like trying to read a secret message.

That's correct. The 2001 song is based on the adverts from the 90s, so the adverts came first.
The current 30 second advert with rubbish music will get it's last airing tonight. Another one will replace it as of tomorrow. Probably 'Scary Santa' again from what I can gather, but this time it's the Northern Ireland version with 'Holidays are Coming'.

You sure its going to be the Northern Ireland version? If so that is great news. I'm more bothered about the music than the trucks.

I concur. Last year's advert was visually very good; it was the lacklustre music which let it down.
