He's been considering quitting for months because they want to give him some time off. I think he's been quite arrogant about it myself in how it's all been done publicly and it's not done him any favours at all.

To be fair, I have never seen or heard Adrian Chiles make any of the comments that have been attributed to him by the press.

Well considering they are directly quoting him I think it is hard to dismiss this as speculation or false information.

How can you be so sure? We have no idea if they are correctly quoting him or not.

The only quotes on the New of the World site are...
"All I want to do is host the show Christine and I have worked so hard on from the start."
"Half of me does just want to. The other half is more cautious."

Let's assume he did say these things, we still don't know what he was responding to or even if he said them seriously. I'll wait until I hear him say something with my own ears or see him on ITV1, I think.

Well to further strengthen my case he has talked to the sun aswell...

well he wasnt just serious he was "storming" when he made these comments

You do know that the Sun and the News of the World are owned by the same company don't you? And that the Sun has a reputation of ripping off articles from its Sunday sister? (although mostly to discredit them)

Sounds like normal contract renewal haggling to me, leaking tidbits to the press about being unhappy and mentioning rivals to increase his bargaining power. Similar to what Graham Norton and Harry Hill did recently.

If he did quit (and I'm sure he won't) they've got no-one lined up to replace him 5 days a week, it would cause a few problems

A few weeks back I read that Chris Hollins is waiting in the wings.

Now that could be good... although you don't want to believe anything in the papers

Chris Evans to host the Friday edition of The One Show

BBC Radio 2 presenter Chris Evans has signed up to replace Adrian Chiles as co-host on Friday's edition of The One Show, it has been announced.

Evans, who presented TFI Friday and Don't Forget Your Toothbrush on Channel 4 during the 90s, will join Christine Bleakley on the BBC One programme.

Evans said he was "honoured" to be involved in what he called a "much loved institution".

A BBC spokesperson said that Chiles' contract was "still being negotiated".

The spokesperson added that the BBC are "keen" that he stays with the show as he is a "valued member of The One Show team".

Intriguing to note it was announced (officially) while Adrian & Christine are off. Seems to me Adrian doesn't really have much bargaining now, if the stories of him threatening to quit are true.

Watching tonight's one, Chris is already annoying me beyond belief, but Louise seems to fit quite nicely!!

From MediaMonkey...

...The BBC duly issued a press release, which also said that Chiles would continue to present Mondays to Thursdays. But they then had to retract the bit about Chiles. Monkey hears he is away and has "had a wobble" and not yet signed a deal.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think he went too far with his public comments of humming and hoing about his future there.

You often hear such comments attributed to "a close source" etc, but Adrian was on record saying it himself, and mentioning offers from other broadcasters (if Digital Spy is to be believed).

The One Show format is clearly the star here - so it wouldn't surprise me if he's off to pastures new before too long.

Does anyone know when they'll start simulcasting on BBC HD?

Keeps fingers crossed that he might get the show FT and therefore a new morning R2 host would then be needed sooner rather than later..... (previous distaste of the Evans character raises it's head again, sorry but, couldn't resist)
