This really is déjà vu isn't it?
Evans does television on a Friday night.
Evans wants Fridays off from his radio breakfast show.
Evans taks Fridays off from his radio breakfast show anyway.
Evans gets sack from his radio breakfast show.

Only the first line is déjà vu, and 15 years on, it's in totally different circumstances so it's highly unlikely the rest will happen again

I'm with Mr Cornwall here, I'm afraid. Please let it be soon!
It must be something to do with being of more mature years, but I can't stand the little twerp either.

I really don't get it, I think you're basing your opinion of him on how he was in the early 90's when he went off the rails big time and not the fairly bland housewives favourite he is now.

My opinion is more aligned with the Inspector's. I was a massive fan of "Power Up" on BSB's The Power Station, back in the dim and distant past - but over the years my interest has waned a little; and whist I don't dislike him, I wouldn't actively seek out his work.

Two main reasons I dislike him,

First, He shouts at the audience, it's HIS show and makes much of this fact, he's not unlike Jeremy Vine in this trait.

Secondly his reliance on direct audience participation which to me is covering lack of original content. Keep the voices of listeners off air, Indirect EMs etc. is far better.

Evans does seem to win people round though and he is very middle of the road these days. There are a small group of very vocal people for who for some reason think of Evans as the devil and they'll never be converted

I suspect it's because of his past behaviour, on Radio 1 for instance, a case of believing that leopards don't change their spots. Or it could be they don't like his manic style (especially when juxtaposed with Sir Terry's more whimsical style).

I don't mind Chris Evans, and I'd agree he is more middle-of-the-road... I'd certainly prefer him over Moyles Wink

To clarify, the contributors above are correct- Evans was to be the first stand-in for The One Show.

However, after this was agreed, he signed to present the Drivetime show on Radio 2 (5-7pm) and so could not provide cover. Ever since he signed up for Breakfast, rumours of more than just covering Chiles on The One Show have emerged.

No - Chris' drivetime show started on 2nd March 2006 and The One Show started the pilot series on 14th August 2006 and properly on 9th July 2007. He was rumoured to be covering for Adrian in 2008 and again on a few occasions. However, the Friday replacement was due to Adrian doing The Ten Show, as he would have been doing The One Show, The Ten Show, MOTD2 and You're Fired.

Talking about The One Show, in today's programme someone ran on to the set to fix/switch on the light in their table when they thought they were showing a VT (they really were showing a VT but it was showing on the studio flat screen at the time).

The table light went through white, purple and red.

Indeed it was very interesting. More so were the mental colours that they lit all of the lights & flashed between them in tune to one of Ozzy's tracks (in honour of Sharon Osbourne being on the show).

Oh did I miss Witchy Poo Osbourne then?

There is a god.

(Or rather my sister settting the SKY Plus for both Emmerdale on ITV & House on Hallmark & the fact you can't watch a 3rd prog live!)

Here are the highlilghts:

Man runs on when he thinks they are showing a VT: http://bbc.co.uk/i/r5zn8/?t=2m15s
A little something extra that wasn't shown on TV - just for IPlayer viewers: http://bbc.co.uk/i/r5zn8/?t=0m1s

Does anyone know when Christine Bleakley is going to do her waterskiing challenge? Will it be shown live at all?

Its quite a big thing to waterski across the channel, but I can't help thinking that the scale of the whole thing will be ruined by terrible coverage. They really need to show it live but I bet it ends up as a 2 minute report on The One Show and a 5 minute report on Sport Relief. Maybe a 30 minute stand alone programme in six months when no one cares anymore too.

I don't see how they could show it live. For a start I doubt she'll be doing it at night which is when The One Show goes out

It will also take more than 30 minutes. I didn't mean show it as part of The One Show. They could put it on the red button though and maybe dip in to it on BBC News Channel.

I would have thought that covering such a thing live would be a major technical undertaking, the sort of lengths not normally gone to for such a minor event
