It shouldn't be too surprising he's clearly grown up a lot since then.

Yes, he has, but these last few days, firstly with TFI and now Top Gear, his radio show has been rather too much, Me Me Me

What do you expects? TFI was his show and now he has to sort out Top Gear.

There's lots of things I have to sort out, but I don't bang on about them in public.

He's in the public eye, and it's all public knowledge. I think it's to be expected.

Evans' show is about what's going on in the news, and at the moment Evans is the news. He has a platform to explain directly to the audience what's going on. It would be ridiculous if he said nothing and directed everyone to a press release, one of the things that people like about Chris Evans is his honesty and how he brings the audience into what's going on.

I remember in 1996 listening to his show and he spent several minutes talking about the future of The Big Breakfast because Dan the Soundman's wife was the new Editor, and they had a big long discussion about what they were going to do, and it was fascinating. No different to him talking about what they're going to do on the new Top Gear.

That's a clip which would be an interesting listen.

Back to Top Gear and they'll be holding open auditions for at least one of the co-host roles.

It was fascinating at the time, it was when Zoe Ball was on in the summer of 1996, when it was in a bit of a bad way, and they got Lisa Clark on, who'd just been appointed as the new editor and as I say was Dan's wife. I remember her saying it was going to have a new look and there was going to be a new full-time male host (because Mark Little had just gone) but that contrary to the reports in the paper, Zoe was staying. But then of course a few days later she quit. And the new look show was rubbish.

You're living in the same media/ luvvie bubble as Evans, been out with ordinary people tonight, they are fed up to the back teeth with all this

All radio hosts talk about themselves to various extents. It would be most odd if they didn't mention fairly significant shows they were involved in. Chris Evans may have been a bit "me me me" over the last couple of weeks but frankly in the media "bubble" as you put it he's been involved in things worth talking about in the last couple of weeks, and other people have been talking about him too.

I guess that depends whether he's Exec Producer in an honorific, in-name-only vanity way (as Ant and Dec claimed after the phone scandal) or whether he will really be fully involved.

He'll be fully involved, it won't be a vanity title.
