Hiya There,

I'm really hoping someone on here can help me out.

This has been driving me insane for years now.

When I was younger (1990s) there was a kids TV programme on which from what I can remember invovled the kids diving into a big swimming pool and retrieving things from the bottom to win points for their team.

All my friends can remember it but no one can give me a name.

The real reason I am after is the programme used a really nice 1980s/1990s song which was released as a single as far as I know and so if i get the name of the programme I may be able to find out the song...

I am really hoping some of you will be able to help me...I have tried google and for once in my life it came up with nothing...

Thanks in advance...

I vaguely remembered this as being recorded in a big pool in Blackpool, and after a bit of googling..

it's The Wetter the Better, which was part of the 8.15 from Manchester.
There's a page about it at http://www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php/The_Wetter_the_Better - but the site appears to be down at present.
A little more info: http://catalogue.bbc.co.uk/catalogue/infax/series/THE+WETTER%2CTHE+BETTER%21
(which seems to suggest it was shown separately too on Sundays)

Nope your all wrong. It's called 'Incredible Games' and was voiced by Little Britain's very own David Walliams.

It's very strange that loads of people ask this question and never remember what it is. I for one couldn't remember but remember being an avid fan of it. Perhaps it was before it's time?

RDJ thank you so much for the link...the tune im talking about seems to be the theme song from it - Sad so looks like ill never be able to get a full length version of the song then....oh well.

Thanks to both of you - as I also loved The Wetter The Better...forgotten all about that!

The shows that always seem to be bounded under the "What was the name of...?" banner are The Adventure Game, Knightmare and Incredible Games.

It's really surprising to me that it only lasted a year, but repeats continued up to the the beginning of 1997 (thanks BBC Programme Catalogue!) so that's why I probably remember it lasting for longer than it actually did. Still can't believe that it's been over ten years since a single episode was shown anywhere, though, almost 11!

And you can see a full episode - featuring great "celebs" like Roland, Cheggers and Flipper Forrester.

God bless YouTube....

I keep expecting David Walliams to go.. "Wickey Woo..Des Kaye!" Laughing

Cheggars seemed to be on everything in the mid-nineties. I watched a classic clip of The Word from around 1993 and he was at some University award thing with Mark Lamarr getting booed big time.

Wasn't there a programme on ITV called Get Wet that was presented by Simian Courtie, as that was mainly around a swimming pool too.

I don't remember any of those having the theme released as a single (or vice versa)... if anything I would have said Get Wet too. Wasn't that the one with the big pirate ship jobby as an endgame?

It was indeed hosted by simeon courtie, and some scottish presenter, who spent the whole show in a wet suit demonstrating the games.

I think for the final they had to find golden coins, it looked to be like it was set in a leisure centre, rather than being an actual set. It was around 1997-1998, and I think I have an episode somewhere.

In the 80's there was 'We Are The Champions' which was like a school sports day type competition, the second half of which were races in the pool.
