Its actually a shame how Freeview only has POP, CBeebies and CBBC when other platforms have Nick and Disney. Is this what children want? NO. Thumbs down

My younger relatives are unsurprisingly not distraught at the lack of children's channels on Freeview, what with YouTube, the Xbox, and Netflix to sate their appetite for entertainment. Why would premium children's content be on Freeview in any case?

EDIT: There's still CITV there as well.

So I wonder then- will children's programmes will be back on BBC 2 on weekday mornings over Christmas?

I'm hoping the return of Children's programming on BBC Two on a Saturday is just a temporary move in the run up to Christmas. I was really enjoying watching the old RKO movies being shown each week. It seems the BBC may have ran out of ideas regarding their re-run of the old RKO films as they no longer show them on Sunday morning's anymore either and instead we have a gardening strand of programmes from around 6am.

I've got a feeling over Christmas, children's programming will be shown on BBC One each morning from 9am like it is has been over the last few years.

I thought the BBC originally said when the BBC Trust revealed their DQF policy in 2012 they would only be showing the odd kids programme in the schedule now and then. Seems they have had a change of heart. Seems really lazy scheduling them showing a morning of CBBC when we already have 2 kids channels freely available for all to see.

Having seen Dick and Dom's twitter post:

Quite surprising that BBC2 are using their own idents to introduce CBBC programmes rather than CBBC idents. But good all the same Smile

I'm not that surprised at all really.

Well good for you. It is quite different from how CBBC presentation has been done in the past though. Presumably this fits in more with it being a "showcase" for the channels rather than the old block. That and there being an announcer sat there with nothing to do...

I remember that the continuity announcer used to talk over CBBC idents in the 90's for the lunch time 15 minute slot. I'm not sure if the current batch of idents are suitable for that, especially as they end with some form of 3D rotation.

I think it's just a Christmas thing. It'll be gone again by early next year.

We (me and STEVE 03 and maybe several others too?) were right. It's just a xmas thing as in the new year old films are being shown again on Saturday mornings.

Possibly a more national launch? Afaik it's only currently available where local TV channels are available.
