Just thought it was worth mentioning...

It has been on BBC Four before but it is a very good show with some good clips and good explanations. It is slightly out of date but still informative. Though we got a reason of why Nick News was axed, apparently not because of ratings. We also got Michael Burk's opinion about Newsround these days and how it is lead by stories about celebrities.

I think they made another excellent programme about The Magic Roundabout which was worth a watch.

An interesting programme there. At the end they said how will the world of childrens news affect tha dults of tomorrow. But really isn't it how will newsround affect the adults of tomorrw, as I can't think of any other dedicated news service for children. Though I've always wondered why itv/CiTV don't have an alternative.

You do have to wonder why ITV don't have a News programme for kids, but they might know the fact that it will fail, such as Magpie, though it was probably the cooler alternative (This is just my opinion, considering Magpie was axed 7 years before I was born) which such a programme could be.

Have Channel 4 axed 1st Edition as that was good even though it was only on 4Learning. As they said it ran from 1993 until Spring 2003, but it's a shame if they have axed it, out of interest was it made by ITN?

I think it was made by ITN, but I'm not sure.

If I was a round at the time of magpie, and viewing both that and blue peter from that time, i'd have watched magpie.

But itv can't seem to do the magazine/educational content of blue peter. They tried it in the 90's with a programme called 'Sticky', where a hand print was the logo, it went out on thursday afternoons (when childrens ward wasn't on), Jez Edwards was one of the presenters, when he was very young. He then went on to do mashed, crazy cottege, xchange, and now the big toe show on BBC7.

Yes he does present the North West edition, he replaced Tony Morris when he moved to Granada Reports. Though Jez Edwards is good you can't take him seriously from going from a kids show to a regional serious-ish news magazine.

from what they said on the documentary last night it didn't in the early days because the correspondents were almost sat around doing nothing until the SIX so were available for peanuts.
