did 'Broom Cupboard'/OOV presentation ever fail itself , because every time any programme went down, you could always get the 'Broom Cupboard' / OOV output to air?

Those old Pres suites were very reliable. If the main gallery mixer died you could still use "Emergency Cut" to get sources - including the Broom Cupboard / Announcer Booth to air. Or you could bypass the gallery altogether and put the Announcer Booth in control of everything. If the Announcer's area died, you could plug up a lip mic in the back of the gallery and announce from there. And if things were really desperate you could move to NC3 !!

My memory may be failing here, but did the move from NC1 to Studio A (Pres A?) get postponed and the broomcupboard was used for an extra day due to a power failure?

When did the exatct date of the broomcupboard dissapear, By July/August 1994 during the school holidays, The presentaion was done up on the roof in BBCtv Centre and when the holidays finshed, CBBC presention was in a modern set.

Broom cupboard was last seen in July 1994, then as said previously it was on the roof of TVC for the summer with that weird desert island set that seemed to last a year or two after that too. Moved into Studio A in September on a Monday - I remember the new idents began in the morning but they were still "on the island" for the birthday slot. Then it was Josie and Toby in Studio A in the afternoon.

Did studio A not have a Mock area of the broom cupboard? I seem to remember something with a firemans poll?

They did have a desk with a similar design to the broom cupboard which was used for reading out birthday cards.

plus a small mixer allowing the presenter to cut to an overhead camera used to show the birthday cards?

Or am I making that up?

Kirsten O'Brien is probably the last remaining old school CBBC presenter still around.

She has recently staged a bit of a come back to straight link presenting what with her now hosting Smile on Sunday mornings

Did she ever present in the Broomcupboard?

I'd claim Chris Jarvis now of CBeebies as falling into that category. He made some Broomcupboard appearances as "The Anorak" but not presenting in his own right.

Does Chris Jarvis still present on CBeebies? He's surely been around even longer than Kirsten, though I suppose CBeebies doesn't really count as CBBC these days.

Edit.. beaten me to it Steve!

Well yes but as the poster below yours and above mine points out, I'm not really classing CBeebies as part of CBBC.
