I hope CBBC get their act together and start showing 4:3 as 4:3 again. This croppign lark is crap. its not how it was meant to be seen- whay should it be shown this way?

But what if, in the worst case scenario, they are unable to get the new BBC THREE approved at all?  The forthcoming launch of BBC FOUR means there has to be a BBC THREE of some kind, and simply renaming BBC Choice would have to be the only route.

Revised plans under consideration for BBC THREE apparently may include an 'interactive learning zone' - which sounds suspiciously similiar to the original format of BBC Knowledge, which was so unpopular it was dumped in less than a year.  I think I'd rather stick with BBC Choice as it is.  Just change the name.

How many more bloody channels are the BBC going to launch and not show in the UK? It's so out of order.

Where are they gonna show BBC Kids then? In outer space?!

BBC Kids is a commercial channel in Canada - and I think plans to have it elsewhere. It is not costing the British licence fee payer anything - in fact the aim is to make money to plough back into UK programming.
You will get the two new Children's channels when they launch - what more do you want???
As noggin mentioned they will be on separate EPG numbers so that they can be put in the children's area.
As to what happens to BBC3 and 4 who knows .... but I would think that BBC4 may launch without BBC3 ... all depends on how long the re-submission process takes and what the outcome is .... the DCMS could say no to a 'youth' channel and BBC3 will have to be re-thought totally.

BBC Kids launches November 5th in Canada (which by the way you can consider as outer space because it's sparesly populated, and the politicians basically lack oxygen in their brains Razz: ). Anyways, I'll capture some stuff for you all if you wish, and then you can give your opinions on it...

I have a feeling thought that BBC Kids will have the same TV idents as CBBC.

Bye for now.

I also hope that the BBC show older kids programmes aswell, it would be good to see the original shows with the presenters on there, but that will never happen, I used to watch it when Philippa Forrester and Toby Anstis presented it and Andi Peters, EDD The Duck and Gorden The Gopher!

Just wanted to ask a CBBC question... I was watching the start of CBBC the other day (on SkyDig 101), and the process went:

BBC ONE trailer
BBC ONE balloon - announcement by main CA It's that time of day again, CBBC with Pingu
CBBC 'remixed' dragon on cliff ident
Pingu in cropped w/s
'Remixed' CBBC ident featuring Tweenies clips and chunks of CBBC idents - with announcement VO from CBBC's Liam, introducing Tweenies.

Is this the normal procedure now? I don't usually watch the start of CBBC y'see....

the new procediour for afternoons is

BBC ONE IDENT
Fluffy CBBC Ident with v/o
Pingu or other shotish show
Another fluffy Tweeniefied ident with v/o
Tweenies

Main presenters say welcome

Major ident

Into main studio with backing music for the rest of the afternoon.

It's a way of splitting up the Childrens from the kids shows if you know what i mean.

Also in the morning CBBC ends with the closing sting, then a trailer, then a fluffy ident and Liam presents the young kids bit of the morning.

You have to admid that lad does plenty work now.

A rubbish attempt to copy Carlton's 'Tot's TV' (is that the correct name?) which uses a computer generated plane to introduce the young children's programs at 3:25pm before CITV starts. I think the section is also sponsored by MilkyWay...

Peter.
