Do you have pre-school children?

No I don't.

Anyway, what's wrong with dancing to Boogie Beebies?

Lot's of things, if you are aged 10 and over.

Did you watch the said YouTube videos, this one and this one? Check them out, guess for yourself the ages of those featured.

Zig & Zag? Pinky & Perky?

it also had Sooty, rainbow people. Spitting imagine, tones more more puppets from 1990 backwards:

it was 5 lines of people like a singing along, to this song

EDIT: found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTMvhl0Kyd4&feature=fvw

Sure you're not thinking of Mr. Blobby, the 1993 Xmas number one?

I've now watched the Helping Hand video on YouTube. Good stuff, I quite liked it, it was something I'd never seen before as I didn't see it back in 1991 (that said, I didn't even watch RND 1991). Back then I had no interest whatsoever in RND.

Anyway, what's wrong with dancing to Boogie Beebies? Take a look at these two videos:

Have you noticed that, in both cases, the dancers are well above the intended age range for the programme?

They're not in their mid 30's though are they?

No, but does it matter? Can you ever be too old to dance to Boogie Beebies? Rolling Eyes Wink

Anyway, as for the Helping Hand video on YouTube (RND 1991), the song sounded rather similar to Farnham Johnny - "You're The Voice" which, if I remember rightly, came out in 1987. Put it this way, the first time I recall hearing that song, and quite liking it, was at Tropicana at Weston-super-Mare August Bank Holiday 1987.

Yes.

Roger Mellie

He was being a bit of a dick tonight; but he did undertake a huge effort with that project by the sounds of it, so I don't think we can knock him too much Wink

True, although I couldn't help wondering exactly how much effort he put in compared with all the animators who actually did the work

Fair point. I think he was responsible the 'human resources' side of it, getting everybody to do the voices.
Perhaps they ought to have (re-)released this instead Wink

Yes.

Considering the show's target audience, by the time you start primary school you're too old for it.
There is something incredibly strange and potentially scary about somebody in their mid 30s who admits to dancing along to a preschool show. What Tumble Dryer does with his life is up to him and if he wants to live it acting like a four year old then, yeah fine whatever floats his boat. The justification excuses for it though are more interesting than they used to be though Wink

If you were eagle eyed, you might have spotted that my last post whilst watching CIN was at 10:04pm last night. After that I made no more posts the rest of the time it was on.

You see, just after Mastermind started on BBC Two I went downstairs to watch CIN through to midnight. That meant being away from my computer. If I'd had a wireless laptop, I could have gone on posting whilst downstairs. Unfortunately (or luckily depending which way you look at it), I don't have a wireless laptop so couldn't post whilst downstairs.

Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the rest of Mastermind. I was surprised that woman won with 35 points, I expected the other bloke who finished on 33 to win.

Back on BBC One from 10:35pm to midnight, the action continued. The total was £15,069,028 at 10:35pm, so I felt sure they'd make it well past last year's grand total. I enjoyed the performances from cast of Legally Blonde - The Musical, Harry Connick Jr singing "Just The Way You Are", David Gray & Annie Lennox and the repeat showing of EastEnders' Motown medley. Perhaps my favourite during that near hour and a half was the bloke who sang "Delilah" by Tom Jones. All first class acts, I say which I was really impressed with. Very Happy I was a bit disappointed with Spandau Ballet's "True", I don't particularly like it in their new key. I much prefer the original version that came out in 1983; indeed I have the 7 inch of that from 1983, as well as that song being a track on the "I Love 80s" album. My only disappointment in this period was Poirot, I've never been that keen on Poirot (or Miss Marple for that matter).

I finally switched off at midnight to go to bed. This morning around 9:30 I began watching the rest of the coverage on video. I thought Madness were going to do a medley of several hits, but did just one: "It Must Be Love". I remember that from the early 1980s, if only indoor adventure play complexes (with soft play, ball pits, Astra slides and drop slides) and water slides had been around when that was in the charts. The next outstanding performance was Priscilla singing "Colour My World" and "I Will Survive". The Nolan Sisters and Cast of Jersey Boys also performed great medleys of hits. Just over half an hour before the end, it was time for a repeat of the newsreaders' act. I enjoyed seeing that again. Alison Moyet's "Love Letters" deserves a mention too, I also enjoyed hearing this performance. It reminded me of Royal Mail ads of years ago "We Know All Our Customers By Name". Avenue Q was OK, though not one of my favourites. Altogether a superb selection to fill the last two hours.

I was disappointed that the grand total was £20,309,747, as that was down on last year's end of night total £20,991, 216. A pity there, I was hoping they'd break the £21 million barrier. Despite the recession (though for various reasons, I have my doubts as to whether there really is one or not), RND 09 netted £57 million odd. Funny how people had the money to give to that back in March. Well done to those who raised that money all the same.

On the whole, Children In Need 2009 was a great night of first class entertainment, with loads of music performances. Well done once again to Peter Kay with his animated masterpiece, that was one of my favourite bits of the night. If I had to name my other favourites, it would include EastEnders Motown medley, and "Delilah". All I can now say is, the whole thing was several orders of magnitude better than the tommyrot we had to suffer and endure (e.g. Harry Hill, Victorian Dragon's Den, footballers' boring trash) the night of RND 09 back in March. RND 09 could have been so much better if that had featured more pop performances, a medley from EastEnders, a newsreaders act, interspersed with more stand-up comics than just Jason Manford (he was good). RND 0, CIN 9.

I think the show lacked performances of the magnitude of comedian Craig Harper, don't you agree Tumble?

I feel bad. Embarassed Last night, when I said about Peter Kay's video ...

Tumble Tower posted:
Great stuff so far, I liked the Alesha Dixon song at the start, and the Peter Kay song on now. Great video to accompany it featuring kids TV characters of when I was little (e.g. Paddington Bear, The Wombles) through to present day CBeebies favourites Teletubbies, Flowertots and the blue character from In The Night Garden. Just one thing in the video missing, Pete Hillier and the Boogie Bunch. Well done with your masterpiece Peter Kay

... I just said Pete Hillier and the Boogie Bunch was missing, and it errupted into this fiasco. I haven't watched that particular bit again to check, but looking back, I think Tweenies and Fimbles were missing too. I could go on and on to mention CBeebies presenters / programme characters who were missing. Let's not make a song and dance about it, just bury the hatchet. Whoever chose the selection of past and present kids' TV characters did very well indeed.

Anyway, has anyone come across the concept of "harmless fun", or the terms "adult kid" and "kidult"?

What's made you bring up about him? It would have been nice to have had him in place of say Poirot, but you can't win 'em all.

Let me guess, you've clicked my YouTube icon and indirectly come across me talking to Craig Harper at this year's RCCGB Blackpool Bash at Pleasure Beach Resort Blackpool.
