Anyone else finding this painful to watch? Well, the Terry and Gaby parts anyway. I only watch to see the sketches.

Where is Gabbie's mike? She sounds terrible.

BBC North East used a News-Style Live graphic (top left of the screen) with pudsey on top and the number to the right in their opt at a new Ice Rink.
I think the ticker is just plain text.

I didn't see the show either last year or the year before, so forgive me for asking, but is it fair to say that proper regional inserts are 'back' this year? Or did I just get the wrong end of the stick about what's been happening over the past couple of years...?!

Lee Stanley posted:
Nottingham have just opted out (so presumably all the regions have). Their ticker looks just like the network one without the pudsey on the end. The phone number font's different too.

The one Leeds are using is different in that it goes all the way to the bottom of the screen.
Have Hull run a ticker yet, as they arn't running one at the same time Leeds are

I wouldn't say fully back as they used to opt for 10 mins at a time a few years ago but there seems to be a bit more than last year at least. Many regions are just using their network OBs though, not all regions have one

Another opt out, and Wendy Gibson is talking to a Dog.

EDIT: And they've re-run part of a 'Where your money goes' feature which has already been shown.

They also crashed into Network a bit late.

Well blow me! (later maybe). We have a Plymouth OB for the first time in a couple of years.

I remember a few years ago, BBC South West used to be the ones that stayed on till the bitter end. They normally went on past the proper ending time. Was it just the South West that used to do this?

I also remember it used to get quite fruity. Confused

This is the ticker from Leeds

I wonder if Hull is only getting ticker on analogue? AIUI it's difficult to soft-opt on digital because the opt is driven by the mixer cutting away from network, so they had to come up with a bodge involving putting a second feed on network on the mixer to cut to last year, which might not have happenned on the Belmont feed.

Was that after 10.30?

I thought I'd point out how spendid Stewart White is looking this evening in the East... He's been cut loose from a small sofa'ed studio with a dodgy local Jazz band of previous years, to the excitement of central Norwich... and he's dressed up as something out od a seventies cop show.

Strangely attractive, so says me a straight fella.

This year is the worst year i have ever experienced for CIN!

Rather than all regions (or nations) opting in and out at the same time - where a designated junction happens they all just seem to be taking their pick and doing what they want.

BBC Wales is opting out for 40 minutes every hour, BBC Ireland is jsut one continuous opt-out with a few recorded preformances from London and BBC Scotland seem to be opting out for 50 minutes each hour.

Basically the programme resembles Top Of The Pops at the moment with Will Young, Girls Aloud, Lisa Maffia, Phil Collins etc etc all singing within the first hour or so.

This is essentially a platform for all these artistes to plug their Xmas singles and albums and the BBC are allowing it.

Also it appears that the BBC have really splashed out on locations this year with huge areana around the country including Weymouth and Merthyr Tydfil (the ones ive spotted upto now)

These huge arenas dont employ people free on nights like these and may offer their services at a reduced rate but still need paying. I cant see how CIN makes a profit? Unless they take a share of the recording profits of all the artists that they are plugging?

Looks like I was talking crap above... the ticker isn't appearing on the Leeds feed on DSat, presumably the aspect ration switching issue comes into it as well, ie to soft opt would mean it would jump from 16:9 to 14:9 and be very noticeable I'd assume
