I have been watching Sky News and the latest total I saw was £31 Million. Has there been a new Total since?

Final total on the night 37.1m

Amazing total for tonight. Fair play to everybody raising that money. It does count as a small bit of hope that there are people out there in the world who focus on giving love and generosity to others to live a happy life. Those people who donated that money tonight are the real heroes who are there to make a real and positive difference to kids all over the UK.

Really. What more could you ask for after such a horrible night unfolded in Paris of all nights? The news channels are well equipped to broadcast this story in their own time on their own channel. I don't see any issue with the rolling news on Paris not being on BBC One. I was glad that BBC One didn't cut to the rolling news and stayed with CIN.

This kind of positive news about CIN's final total should be celebrated all across the UK regardless though.

Some tweets aren't happy that CiN is being allowed to continue. I know there's the News Channel providing rolling coverage of the Paris attacks, but some feel it's inappropriate.

Difficult call to make last night, depends what 'mood' develops through today, but I can imagine SCD and XFactor being pulled tonight, and replaced with more reflective programmes perhaps. We're in uncharted territory to an extent considering France is our neighbour, and the magnitude of the event

Running time may be reduced to allow for longer news bullies, but apart from that, I can't see any other change to the schedules.

I honestly don't think that will happen; I would suggest that ITV and the BBC won't go as far as they did for 7/7 (or at least any further).

I very much doubt that. I would be very surprised if either show were pulled.

Can't see it happening.

CiN should have been moved to BBC 2. It was a terrible night for the telethon despite the total.
Terry out, not being hyped enough, overshadowed by Paris. Friday 13th was hell!

I disagree. Children in Need's role is to generate money for charity, whilst entertaining an audience.

Moving it to BBC Two would have massively reduced its audience numbers and would have reduced the money raised for charities, and as importantly, the awareness of some important ones. Would that be the right result on such a day? I don't think it would have been.

If by shifting the show to BBC Two the BBC raised less money - wouldn't that be just making things worse?

If it had been a normal entertainment show, with no real point other than entertainment, I'd take a different view. But CiN is not just an entertainment show, and thus the decision is a lot more difficult to make.
