Will CIN be on BBC Three before Newsnight begins on BBC Two because of the news in Paris tonight?

I guess I was wrong then. It's back on BBC One now.

Scottish CA announced part 3 of CiN as being Children in Night Need and Rochelle introduced the VT a minute ago with Reggie Mates!

Some tweets aren't happy that CiN is being allowed to continue. I know there's the News Channel providing rolling coverage of the Paris attacks, but some feel it's inappropriate.

So much for the old British stiff upper life of the show must go on, or just getting on with life. THIS better NOT be taking out of context.

I do wonder how serious a news event has to be nowadays for it to interrupt normal programming on BBC One - in 2015 everyone who has access to it also has access to BBC News and various other news channels, so in a technical sense it's unnecessary to rebroadcast it, but it really comes down to appropriateness.

Absolutely the right decision to stick with Children in Need on BBC1 and show the other side of humanity. I don't think they handled the return in the best way possible - certainly missed having an established broadcaster to establish the correct tone. I'd have gone for a low key intro followed by appeal film and appropriate musical performance and then on with the show from there. That is easy to say though sitting here.

Would have been worse if they'd have launched the second part with the newsreaders dancing routine, like they've done many times before

God what is wrong with people, for many having CIN tonight was just what they needed after watching the news. Variety and choice are good, especially at a time like this.

Did anyone complain when ITV pushed out It'll be alright on the night at 8pm On 12 september 2001 ?

Don't know if it was unclear in my post but I personally wasn't saying that BBC One should have taken CiN off air for the rolling news. Did BBC One have any on-screen captions telling people to watch BBC Two or BBC News for a breaking news story?

Probably not because 9/11 was 11th September 2001.

Of course CIN should've continued on BBC1 as planned. Maybe a brief 5 second BBC1 style DOG alerting people to switch for 'Breaking News on BBC2' but even that wouldn't be necessary.

Anyway, as for the night itself - so year after year we've often commented on how Wogan is the problem with the show and once he goes the show will improve but evidently from tonight, it isn't Wogan that's the issue. That said, I have found Dermot almost too safe tonight and have missed Wogan's bumbling sways to camera and missed-cues - "It's you Sir Terry!" "Oh right you are..!". Chris Evans would have been ideal imo. The promotion and format has been very lacklustre this year, still a case of "Oh CIN again, what shall we do?". Of course, EastEnders still play their part - even more so now it's based at Elstree (not much use of the set except The Queen Vic tonight though?).

It was a shame also that due to weather, Scott Mills wasn't able to abseil down Blackpool Tower as planned, so we had this 2nd rate affair with the slightly shorter Orbit at the Olympic Park instead which seem to last nothing more than 5 minutes.

With regards to Wogan, nobody really knows what the health complaint is, (back problems?) I know a few years ago (unless I'm imagining) he was presenting only a few weeks after a knee operation meaning he had to sit down a lot of the time. Certainly it'll be interesting to see if he returns to present next year.

Much more tends to happen away from the day itself now unlike when I was a kid in the 90s - the old coin bucket shaking in the audience, local radio involvement, large cheques on display etc, but, as always, still raises money for a good cause albeit in different ways.
