I find all these moany comments about the show being poor quite bad taste to be honest.

These people are giving up their time and effort to help a charity which does amazing things - so in my view they could be standing on the stage doing absolutely bot all and I'd still send money to the charity.

A night of music and musicals is no bad thing anyway. Save the rest of the dross for Royal Variety and One Night Only.

And as if to prove the point, the total now stands at over £15m. Absolutely amazing.

Most of that total is raised prior to the programme starting, nobody knows how much people actually donate during the show but I bet it isn't a great percentage

Finally. Someone that speaks sense in this thread.

Staying in isn't my ideal way to spend a Friday night, but I actually quite enjoyed the bands and musical numbers.

I also wonder if all the whingers on here have even bothered to put their hands in their pockets and donate.

It's not until you see some of the films of kids you realise what struggles some kids face in life, and realise how fortunate you are - I hope they do well with the final total.

I donated weeks ago at my local supermarket.

I don't need to watch the film clips to know the reality a lot of children face in this country, and I know full well how fortunate I am thank you.

I don't know what your point is - I'm merely commenting on the total amount of money raised so far, be it before the programme or during.

Bingo Night Live is on your ITV. Surely that's a more worthwhile cause than CIN?

Well done this man. Children In Need has been very enjoyable tonight and, even it is hadn't been, it is still raising money for a fantastic cause. The British public is being provided with 7 hours of entertainment which is miles better than the usual dross the BBC puts on - I think it is well worth a donation.

Have you all got fairly famous celebrities hosting in your region rather than newsreaders?

Yorkshire have got Ian White and Toby Foster. I imagine Hull have probably got Peter Levy

London's contribution was with Konnie Huq and one of the younger BBC London male reporters from Wembley Arena.

I was speaking in general terms at the end of my last post. To clarify - it brought home to me how many children out there rely on the funds of charities like this. They are also so appreciative of things I take for granted - like just going to the shops, or going on holiday out with friends etc.

On another point - interesting to see you identified yourself as a whinger.

Allons-y!

Absolutely amazing performance by the Hairspray! cast by the way - IMO the best performance of the night.

Well I'm glad it's made you more aware of the issues.

My only complaint really is they're focusing too much on music this year, that's all. Personally the only artist I like from tonight's line-up is Duffy. The rest are a bit naff, in my opinion, and I would have liked to have seen more variety.
