No. It actually used to be quite watchable when it was Terry Wogan and Sue Cook and there was a bit more variety in the evening. More recently though it's turned into a songfest which I can't stand. It doesn't help that the presenters have all of the personality of a wall!
This is where Comic Rlief wins out because it has a variety of things during the evening and isn't mostly music.
I must say that I like the set but the problem with TC1 is if you have a big set you can't have a big audience, and if you have a big audience you can't have a big set. You don't get the same crackle of excitement that you do from Studio 1 at The London Television Studios.
Fountain Studios where The X Factor comes from is the best large studio in the country. But things might have been so different. Read this on how BBC TV Centre's TC9 could have been the best studio ever and was ruined because the accountants at the BBC were in charge instead of the light entertainment supremos like th legendary Bill Cotton.
TC9 could have been the best studio ever in Great Britain!!

Has Children in Need always been wall to wall musical acts?
No doubt Terry and his co-presenters will be reading from different hymn sheets as per usual
