Compared to 10 years ago it feels like the balance of entertainment vs fundraising VT's has shifted towards the later.

I think the problem is that outside of Strictly, the BBC’s entertainment slate, both in terms of programming and presenters is quite weak, so they don’t have much to call upon.

So you end up with Sam & Mark doing a CIN version of the remake of Crackerjack, which most viewers won’t even be aware is happening, as a main highlight.
Yeah, Doctor Who's contribution used to be a preview of the Christmas special, or a specially produced short - something that would definitely get it's fanbase to tune in - but this year and last have just been a fan meeting Jodie in the studio. And why do a VT during the Strictly special? Do them either side of it instead!

And ITV still seemingly don't allow the cast of their soaps to appear unlike 15 years ago despite no longer producing text Santa.
Not even a Call the Midwife contribution this year - that been a regular the last few years.

Call the Midwife cast are due to appear now in the post news slot - I have no idea what they are doing though

Usually only a preview of the Christmas Special.

Big problem for is lack of mainstream comedy - the most popular comedy is not suitable for Children in Need.

Because the idea is they want people to see the VT so they donate. If you’re just watching for the Strictly bit you’re far more likely to watch the VT if it’s in the middle than if it’s shown at the end or before it’s started.
Cando, Ash101 and Brekkie gave kudos

It does feel like at least 50% is VT and some of them are repeats.

Same with entertainment shows too. Telethons and Christmas TV was stronger in the 90s because family entertainment was stronger.

The Series 12 Trailer for Doctor Who is meant to be released on 23rd November so they've taken that away from Children In Need. A shame.

The sort of consistency you've come to expect from the BBC in this nations and regions round up.
