Because it was popular with everyone on and off Twitter. People are praising Tess and Jodie for their kindhearted-ness. And because the little girl is an absolute superstar.
And now a repeat of the Dr Who appearance - why?

Most of the people on here and elsewhere love to complain about CIN but you cannot deny that it does a lot of good, likewise with Comic Relief,
We are not denying the good work and the wonderful generous British public, no way - we don't like the lacklustre approach to the actual night
I didn't watch CiN this year, but have seen a clip that's doing the rounds of a Dr Who fan being surprised by Jodie Whittaker and two other cast members which was magical. Even if the whole show was crap, that one viral says all you need to know why CiN is still relevant.

I agree, she is a complete sweetie pie of a girl

Speak for yourself. Tumble Tower’s posts are a TV Forum tradition on these big occasions (let’s call them the Wogan nights). It’s the people that moan about him or mimic him, when he’s not here that I find tedious.
And we're all grateful for that.
