A group of children receive a special surprise from Little Mix, Graham Norton and Ade Adepitan join in the fun, plus a Team GB Strictly Come Dancing special. A difficult year for them but baffled at them seemingly giving Rochelle and Marvin the entire post news slot. I'd have kept Graham around at least for the duration of his usual Friday night slot.

Weak line-up with the exception of Graham Norton. Rochelle Humes is a turn-off personally with her stage-school delivery.

Weak line-up .

Try a week line in content, its been going down hill for hills which is a shame, but no one at the BBC wants to do anything to improve it.

I suspect Terry's death will force their hand.

Strictly, EastEnders, Doctor Who... every year is the same as the last.

In a way it's a bit like Christmas - it's the same every year because of a lack of entertainment formats and comedies especially. In the 90s when BBC1 were airing 3-4 comedies every week they could vary what they used each year for specials on Children in Need and at Christmas - and indeed the shows would have to earn them as well. Nowadays when you can count the number of BBC1 sitcomes in any year on one hand there isn't much to choose from, while their entertainment department seems to begin and end with Strictly nowadays.

Somewhat irrelevent now too but I always though Bake Off would have been a much better fit with Children in Need than Comic Relief and Sport Relief.

Agree though there is nothing inspiring or original in this years line up - why can't The One Show do something other than the Rickshaw Challenge, whilst previews of Christmas specials don't really count as contributions. Terry's shoes will be big ones to fill though and hopefully in time someone does become fundraiser in chief.

It's improved every year - because the amount of money raised has gone up. They are not going to change it because some people on the internet think it's boring.

I'm not sure if it was a thing back in the 80s/90s, but I seem to remember when companies would be happy enough to donate large sums for a rep to sit in the audience to do a segment with Terry holding a big cheque.

In recent years, they've become borderline advertorials with massive publicity for the companies who have done CiN/Sports & Comic Relief promotions in-store on a channel funded by a compulsory licence fee.

I'm not against for say the use of the brand name or what they've sold/done to fundraise, but to have 2-3 minute VT's on how wonderful some of these companies are is a bit hard to watch.

No it hasn't, there not going to change it now BECAUSE it still get lots of money, your looking at it backwards. The local opt out especial from Scotland has got worse, ( there could never find a happy middle ground)

I agree, I've never understood how they're able to get away with those. They are simply adverts.

Would you donate a pound more to the cause if the show was more to your liking?
