No BBC One/BBC Two simulcast at 22:00. The programme was off BBC One a good 20-30 seconds before it appeared on BBC Two.

Indeed how we miss the howls of Fearne going "Look Terry! We're now on BBC 1 and 2 at the SAME TIME!!"

And then they'd either get cut off on BBC1 or still be on BBC1 when they think they've gone!

Nothing on the handback to BBC One either. I'm sure they could have move the schedules by a few seconds so they were on BBC One and BBC Two at the same time.

Noticed that when Sharon left the Queen Vic, she got to the door and the curtains were open and when she appeared outside the curtains behind her were... CLOSED!

I've only seen bits of it but the different studio didn't seem to be detrimental to the atmosphere in the studio. The studio itself looked much better than I expected.

Terry Wogan and Nick Grimshaw appear to have the same hair cut, albeit styled differently!

The set is well presented at elstree. I think there are deeper camera angles used meaning it feels bigger than at TVC.
As an evening, there seems to have been more specials, and more live especially post midnight moments with the battle of the bands & Greg & Russell's lip sync off, and not wholly relying on west end shows to fill the late hours. A very good year IMO.

I agree, much better than previous years. There seems to be a lot more content, got the mix right and love the way they have utilized Elstree by getting the set of Eastenders in the mix as well as a much better looking and better designed set compared to some of the last TVC sets of previous years. Usually got bored of it quite early on in the past but I've been watching with interest most of the night tonight.

The final total for tonight is £31,124,896 - a record breaking amount again.

Disappointing ending. They cut away to a still slide saying thank you when the fun was still continuing in the studio. Some confetti guns went off just as they cut away.

It's clear that Sir Terry Wogan and Peter Simon Esq. have very similar sign-offs. Peter Simon was first, with:
Quote:
No matter where you are tonight, or who you are; you might not know it, but somebody loves you.

Truly heartfelt, a message that would warm the cockles of the most stony-faced, heartless person on this planet.
Tel went with:
Quote:
And as always, the biggest thank you is for you at home. Once again, you're the reason why children everywhere in the United Kingdom will continue to have hope. Thank you. Goodbye.

Not exactly a Peter Simon sign off - not the same amount of feeling, and honestly a bit trite.

Most of it was an improvement on 2012. However, the BBC2 One Direction segment was a waste of time, made even more painful by their poor autocue reading skills. We managed a 35 minute break in the old days of CiN before the BBC2 segment was introduced.

The cast of Matilda was a nice touch instead of the usual pop band at the start and the stories featured didn't have the sentimental music beds which I felt made them even more powerful.

Having the biggest boy band in the world hosting a segment is a coup, rather than a waste of time, however badly done.
