Well BBC One has just taken a break for the 10 o'Clock News, and will resume CIN coverage at 10:35. Meanwhile BBC Two is showing a Mastermind CIN Special.

Whispers quietly ....

Thankfully Blush has been all but forgotten so far. Only appearing in this Mastermind thing.

How bizarre! One contestant has a specialist subject of Fawlty Towers and scores 14 points, and the next contestant has a subject Refrigeration and gets just 4 points. I don't think that man knew a thing about refrigeration.

Thank you, John Motson.

Has anybody noticed that they've done away with the 2006 theme tune (big brassy number) to the original "Here's For The Children" song, albeit updated?

Oh and for you who don't like Blush...

I'm looking forward to the newsreaders, as always.
Which was the year when someone presented the 10 still wearing fishnets?

The set is very nice, but it's amazing how small TC1 looks on screen sometimes (I know there are larger studios in London, but honestly it is a big space!) I can't help but feel that it could do with a steadicam. The handheld walk-up-the-steps during Take That really showed up as rather wobbly. Compare TT on X-Factor last week to the same song done on CiN this year. Despite being in the showcase studio at Television Centre, X-Factor had a great deal more scale and presence than the same song done on the BBC.

I thought Glasgow's contribution at 2130ish was pretty good. Is that the Scottish Exhibition and Convention Centre?

It is the SECC - it's "Children In Need Rocks the SECC".

A few of my thoughts.

Nice set this year. The EastEnders/Corrie thing was a nice surprise. More of this and less of the singing/musical numbers makes for a more varied and better show. Why use two different Pudseys in the graphics packages though? I'm glad they're using the 3D one because I think it looks better, but they redesigned Pudsey so that it could be used on more products and refresh the image.

So either have the new one or the old one not both together.

BBC Scotland clearly like the place - they used it for the 2008 Eurovision Dance Contest.

The problem with Studio 1 is that if you have a big set you have a smaller audience, and if you have a large audience you get a small set. It always looks cramped and it makes me wish that they made this studio before Bill Cotton left.

Studio 6. What might have been! Sad

Didn't they revert to the 1994 onwards theme last year, with David Arnold conducting?
