Watching the end makes me think how much we should be trying to save TV Centre! Sad

The continuity announcement at 22:35 said it all really:-

"...and now BBC1 returns to Television Centre for CIN..."

Eh ? As far as Joe Public is concerned, BBC 1 IS Television Centre.

Last night's show failed to meet the technical and production standards of a Network LE show, simple as that . The Beeb have lost the ability in recent years of being able to deal with semi ad-lib, loose structured programming.

It would be interesting to see how The London Studios would have produced the programme. Their pedigree of similar productions is good, Friday/Saturday Live, Toothbrush, Graham Norton, Comedy Awards.

The Buzzcocks segment was appalling. Blackburn, Moyles, and Wogan all stuck nails in their career coffins. Vine and Bruce sensibly kept quiet. Credit to Jo Brand, who really did her best to hold things together.
I'm glad I didn't watch Buzzcocks, by all accounts it was a debacle of the highest order.

Children In Need is mostly crap every year, they really do need to rethink how to put on entertaining television.

The show got massive ratings last night with an average of 9.4m watching between 7 and 10pm, peaking at 10.9m at 8:15pm. What with this and the total being higher than last year, I expect the same format will continue next year as it is obviously what people want

I bet there were all waiting for the Doctor who special

also Scotland did not show the Robin hood clip

I'd forgotten all about that. What is the story behind that? It only had two characters in it and they used the old Pudsey. Looks like it was probably made in 5 minutes.

Interesting to watch the 1996 opener. It seemed calmer, and a nicer introduction, and you could feel the chemistry between Terry & Gaby.

The set seemed massive, especially when they had a screen back to the left of the orchestra, the studio seems wider.

What exactly did they do at the seating area, I can't really remember them using it much when it was there.

When you look at how many specials they had lined up, even though they did a good job last night, there could have been more, or maybe they should have been longer.

I don't think that the Buzzcocks thing would have been bad if they'd have had SImon, Bill & Phil, those three would have controlled the situation whoever the guests would have been, and then they could have added Terry, Fearne and another from each station. Though Jo Brand did do her best to keep a shambles together.
