Looks like BBC One were in a spot of trouble there. Came from a trailer and then went to a CBeebies ad and then froze, became black and then the rest of the ad played.

Then another ad played and froze and the ident audio played, then cut to weather with the music still going.

...and isn't that the weatherman who had to stand still all that time?

LOL- the junction from the end of CIN to Weatherview was a complete disaster! Anyone capture it?

Dean Lydiate did a fantastic professional closedown into News 24. He sounded like an flight attendant "Thankyou for flying with BBC One tonight, I'm Dean Lydiate and on behalf of my cabin crew I wish you a safe journey into News 24" Laughing

Anyway so... just over £17m raised. Slacking a bit on last years total but a good night nonetheless.

Not only that, you could still hear the feed from the CIN studio within the trailers. Seemed to dip in and out.

Not slacking as such if they beat last years total. Albeit only just. I seem to remember in the early 90s. They were getting totals in the early 20s mark and then one year, I think it was 1994 it dropped seven million to about £13-14million and Terry blaming it on people going through bad times etc or was that just a hazy memory about nothing?

I've got a dodgy quality of it recorded onto the pc! It was very strange, as though it was playing out the sound first, plus the sound from the CIN studio, and then the sound of a trailer and an ident that you never even saw!

Looks like it could've been mixer problems as I'm sure that everything (except probably the announcements) would have been done live and not on automation after a live event in case it overran...

Another Red Bee cockup to add to the list?

for those that do not read the midlands thread - here are highlights of the opts from our particular part of the region ...

Onto the main show, & it was Ashley & Shefali in Coventry, plus Goldie & 'Linseed Oil' (Lindsey Doyle !) at the Mailbox.

I saw the panto opt out, & if I was Head Of Regional Progs, I'd be highly embarrassed. I'm a viewer & I was cringing!

Why don't they stick to interviewing Joe Public instead?

oh westy you do disappoint me! cin is all about a bit of camp friday night nonsense. i know i wouldn't tune in to watch a string of well meaning-yet-predictable middle aged women from the vision express branch in oldbury waving their novelty cheques. where as a live event running simultaneous to the london activities makes the proceedings feel far lass remote.

it would have been far safer for bbc mids to pre-record the panto - but they bravely decided to do the thing live. i thought simon keeling was absolutely fantastic - not only playing the starring role in the panto - but anchoring the opts before ashley arrived.

also nice of bbc mids to hold 2 separate simultaneous events - one at bbc cwr, but also one at the mailbox. lindsey doyles probably not the first name people would come up with in relation to cin - but she worked well with adrian

The newsreaders absolutely butchered the best song in the history of the world, ever. Bohemian Rhapsody.

It was almost as bad as Madonna singing out of key.
