Didn't the Children in Need studio used to be to a different layout, with a seating area, and balconies? When did it change to basically just a stage?

Also, I know Terry Wogan is a bit of a cult figure and a broadcasting legend among students and older people, but is he actually cool among today's kids. I can't help but thinking there will be millions of kids wondering who this old bloke is stumbling through all the links and talking over everyone!

Well, the Scottish opt-out is over, after raising £200,000 less than they were after (total of £800,000). There's been no explanation as to what exactly is going on - we've just randomly reappeared in London, with not so much as a "Welcome back to viewers in Scotland" or anything like that. In the intervening period we've missed KT Tunstall, who was promised before the 10pm news, because BBC Scotland were too busy doing "Strictly Come Highland Dancing". Argh.

Good to see the person who thought putting Chris Evans breakfast show on TV is still in a job and now at the BBC - this Archers thing is the most insane thing I've ever seen. The audience look extremely bemused.

KT Tunstall was on about 15 minutes ago, and very good she was too. I enjoyed the newsreaders too. Otherwise not a great show.

didn't think to check earlier when I was watching the the South West opts (and the "Red Barrows"!) and now I've been turfed away from the Sky box for the night...

Yes the BBC South West opts from Plymouth were cringworthy, because of the apalling acts on show. Not one famous face, and the highlight was the Red Barrows.

Nice to see Justin, Teresa, and future Spotlight presenter Victoria Graham working together though. Victoria looked very much at ease.

Yep, but BBC Scotland had unfortunately opted-out at that point. They then gave up the ghost for the night and we've been with the network ever since, which means that unlike with a lot of other network programming, they never got a chance to show it.

Which is a great move bearing in mind that KT Tunstall is actually a Scottish act.

Daniel Pouter looks baffled and desperate to get off the stage btw.

Hi, does anyone know the name of the light thing outside of the studio 1, above the door? What else does it say on there?

Regional staff may be working overtime, but many staff at Television Centre may be just doing this as part of their regular duties.

Yes, you might have noticed soem regions having toned down lunch programmes - the crews that would have been on sat-trucks are working shifts covering the 6:30 and Children In Need.... so weren't on shift at 1:30

All the studios at TV Centre have a red light saying 'Transmission' and a blue light which reads 'Rehearsal'.

They are called 'lights'

BBC Norn Irn is still going strong, unfortunately. We just had newsreader Donna Traynor singing "Take a Chance on Me". <shudders>

About 6-7 years ago they had a big rethink - got rid of the regional bits and totally rethought the set. Getting rid of the seating area, phone room and all the other bits of set has made the programme far slicker and more modern.

Anyone remember that ridiculous set they had for a couple of years with the river? They had a sequence where they (Terry and Sue Cook) got in a boat through to another studio where all the phones were. The early sets used to have a radio studio in them with a large, red 'on air' light. How things have moved on... for the better

Athlete were on BBC Scotland from Glasgow earlier - presumably the network is going to show that feed, meaning we'll be 'treated' to that twice, while missing completely quite a few network acts. Hngh.

Great idea for Terry and Natasha to encourage drunk types to donate all their money. Next week - adults in need.

We've got into the dregs now - stage shows, soap stars singing pop songs... oh wait, that's what it's been like all night.
