The person who played Trevor Cleaver in Grange Hill, went on to become the manager of a DIY store.
However, while they may have left professional full time acting, it's not to say they've left acting altogether. They may be uncredited extras in shows, or perhaps do local amateur shows.

Appeared on Jupiter Moon apparently, or the first 108 episodes Galaxy aired, before BSB closed, and two or three episodes after that, but those weren't seen until 1996.

I don't remember Kathy Pitkin or hardly and of the cast of Eldroado, it was a programme I never watched and it never appealed to me. I knew of course about its bad reputation at the time and I wondered whether it would last, I wasn't surprised when it finally got the axe.
It is interesting hearing about Victoria Shalet, I remember the Queen's Nose being on and although I was a bit too old for the series I can remember Harmony quite well.

It kind of feels like there might be a link between these two statements.

True... but at least Eldorado was broadcast in the days when there were genuinely surprising cliffhangers on soaps. Nowadays everything is spoiled on the internet or in the press much more than in the 90s. This could be the problem why soaps are not as popular as once upon a time ( I know the multichannel / streaming world contributes too ), as you know exactly what is happening a month in advance!
Eldorado for me, had one of the most surprising, jawdropping cliffhangers that I never saw coming ever on a soap (though it wasn't the Fizz reveal, I'll admit), nowadays everything would be know about the weeks before.
As much as Eldorado is looked back on as a failure, many shows would kill for its ratings today. And some of the cast did go on to be known in other things after the show. Kathy Pitkin does seem to be missing from existence ever since though!
There were many things wrong with Eldorado, but it's perhaps not a good idea to base your entire first episode around the amazing reveal of Fizz, when she was already on the cover of all the TV guides and had been in all the publicity.

I think I know which one you mean, and yes it was a complete shock!

His character Tim Shaw was around until at least episode 123.

I wouldn't know, I've never seen it, IMDb tends to be really patchy with who was in what episodes of a soap so its a best guess scenario. I know it was made using Central's facilities at Birmingham though,.
There is an incompete episode guide (140 out of 150) at oocities, and having picked a random top end episode Tim Shaw appeared in number 135 as well:

Most soaps just didn't appeal to me at the time, but of course I did hear about Eldorado's bad reputation soon after
