Good News primarily suffered because they took out the Mystery Guest segment for a straight interview. How anybody thought that was going to be better than Mystery Guest is a mystery in itself. But that aside, the edge was lost on Good News as opposed to BBC Three.

The tweaks to the BBC Three comedy formats appear to bring it into line with BBC Two's target audience.

In the case of Wipe, I think it's trying once again to bring in some mainstream appeal which it didn't really have on BBC Four.

That is why it is crucial to #saveBBC3 - the shows being given an outlet on BBC1/2 are being changed to fit their audience.

I don't think Weekly Wipe suffers so much from being on BBC2 rather than BBC4 - think it's just ageing a bit. Brooker has covered most things TV and news related overt he last decade so the show has a lot to live up to and also try not to keep recovering old ground.

These are BBC3 programmes being "promoted" (and changed) to become BBC2 programmes.

Not the same as when BBC3 programmes have been shown on BBC2 in the past, nor will it be the same in the future.

Shouldn't we all complain to the consultation about this issue?

Funnily enough, I remember Shooting Stars never being the same when it moved to BBC Choice. Granted, they tweaked a lot of things and it may or may not have been because of the channel move, but it definitely changed and not for the better.

I don't like his characters, quite boring and a space filler in my opinion. It was better in the old ones when they had a guest to talk about tv related stuff.

Shooting Stars didn't really move to BBC Choice, it was still on primetime BBC2 as usual (apart from that one they filmed on 9/11 where Ulrika didn't appear and it was so bad it was never shown on BBC2, just BBC Choice as a "special"). BBC Choice showed it first, but that's no different to when they were showing 24 first on BBC Choice. Hardly anyone had it at the time anyway.

A more obvious reason for the changes is because it was four and a half years after the previous series, and there are always going to be changes over the years. It's a bit like when QI moved to BBC1 and everyone said it had been "dumbed down" despite that fact a) when they recorded the first BBC1 series they still thought it was going to be on BBC2 and b) it was just the general increased informality you tend to get when a series has been running for a few years, when everyone relaxes a bit and gets a bit bored of the original format.

Besides, I would vehemently disagree with the idea Shooting Stars was any worse in that series, most of my favourite bits from Shooting Stars came from that run. I liked Vegas and Self as regulars more than Lamarr, they had great guests like Larry Hagman and brilliant sketches like Geordie Jumpers. And the Peanuts song.

I stand corrected over the BBC Choice thing. I just found the show started becoming more self aware at that point. By that, I mean the guests were in on a lot of the jokes, whereas they were initially recipients of it. It became blatant when it was revived a few years ago and some of the guests were established comedy actors playing characters.

Well, you're always going to have that with any show that goes on for a long time. If you were to look back on the early episodes of Have I Got News For You, for example, there were far more rounds than there are now and they spend far more time answering questions properly. These days they just mess about. Shows will always evolve over time and formats become looser.
