Just caught the 2am repeat of this, if you missed it it's normally on at 10:30 Thursday and repeated again on Friday at 11.

For once, I thought he was spot on about every single thing in this week's programme! Nice alternative lyric to the Frosties ad, "Even a man with cancer of the pros-tate" Laughing There was a feature about how much work it is to film someone falling off a log (informative if not terribly interesting), a rant about the 'aspirational' shows that seek to make you feel worthless (The OC, cosmetic surgery progs), and a list of 5 things to make Dr Who better.

I'm pretty suprised Charlie is a fan of Who, since his persona is that of someone who hates everything. Mind you, I'm sure his list of improvements have been done before by someone at TV Cream or something. Heck, there's probably only 5 things wrong with it anyway Smile

Anyhoo, looking forward to the rest of the series now.

There is something ironic about him complaining about continuity announcers talking over the music of Doctor Who while he's doing exactly the same thing himself. Rolling Eyes

Does anyone else think the heavily used promo does this programme no favours? Having never watched Screen Wipe, I was left with the impression that Charlie Brooker was an arrogant, self-righteous, moaning w*nker and left me in no doubt that I didn't want to watch the programme.

However, whilst flicking through the channels last night I found myself watching it, and very much liking it. I even set the PVR for early morning repeat so I could watch the bits I missed.

Perhaps they should "shoot those promo people" after all.

I'd say they got it spot on.

The 5 wishes for Dr Who series 3 was a straight lift from his Guardian column...which is fine and all that, I agree with many of them, it's just a shame that he couldn't be bothered to do any new stuff and just lift it straight from his column instead. It's the sort of thing you could imagine him slagging off...

Great show otherwise though.

Exactly, Charlie Brooker's persona is that of an 'arrogant, self-righteous, moaning w*nker', but (unlike the BB shower), a very intelligent one. That's why he's so entertaining.

Also I'd not be surprised if the exam boards are onto him, as the bit about aspirational TV and advertising in last night's episode would fit directly into media studies a-levels.

I don't understand why so many of you dislike the Charlie Brooker trail. Its imaginative (ie taking the p*ss out of trails producers....which is no bad thing sometimes), funny and damned well DIFFERENT. Which are what trails need to be.

Anything which makes me smile or laugh between programmes has to be good. Well done "promo" people as Charlie put it. The trail worked and so does the programme. Smile
