I see he got rid of the AM180 theme music in favour of something more jumpy at the beginning.

The theme to jigsaw - a good copy of which I've been seeking for years.

Thanks Charlie!

Great episode - very amusing segment with Charlie having a go at being a presenter on Toonattik - messing up when explaining the rules of one of the games, having to dress up as 'Angry News Guy' Laughing and getting 4 pies in the face!

Well why didn't you just ask me? I found this page about Jigsaw a few weeks back. Clean versions of both themes and some clips.

Yes, not the usual acid attitude from Mr Brooker this week which I think suited a programme about kids TV. He was probably looking back with fondness more than anything. Although I noticed that the recorded inserts from guests seemed to make up around half the show.

I'd have like to have seen more of him on Toonattic personally, although I imagine that was shortened to allow the wonderful Oliver Postgate tribute. We'd all grown up with one of his programmes at some point in our life and I thought it was a fitting tribute.

Excellent episode as ever, it is at times like this that you have to be grateful for the BBC because no other broadcaster would simply entertain this kind of programme. I'm sure I say that every week after each show. Laughing

There was a good report on The One Show yesterday as well about Oliver Postgate, they spoke to his son and showed Emily from Bagpuss all grown up. She is actually Peter Firmin's daughter. And Bagpuss was supposed to be marmalade in colour, but when he came back from the dyers he was pink.

Ooh thanks. I wonder if that website owner has them in something greater than scratch n' sniff Real Player encoding.

Couldn't agree more. It was a very lovely tribute to Oliver Postgate. I loved his reference to those being the "sounds in his head of his childhood", with Postgate having put them there.

Me too.

I think that, as much as the Daily Mail may hate it, Charlie Brooker is the epitome of normal, middle-aged, cynical, middle-class British men. He is quite simply a wonderful presenter, a very witty man, more perceptive than Clarkson, and he knows exactly how to handle any situation.

Thought this week's programme was brilliant, esp Oliver Postgate tribute.

Completely agree - one of the finest broadcasters around, and although it may be his cynical sarcasm that may have made his name, his sincerity was clear to see in the tribute to Oliver Postgate.

The thing about Charlie Brooker is that he speaks his mind, and what he says is what we're all thinking deep inside when we watch **** on TV. He's the voice of the viewing public.

Another brilliant episode last night: the tribute to Oliver Postgate at the end was very fitting, and prevented us from going to bed with nightmares about that Junior Christian Science Bible Lesson.

Just have to echo the others - Charlie is a pure genius. This week's show was brilliant. As others have said his tribute to Oliver Postgate came from the heart. I suppose Gavin and I and others are of that age where we grew up on Bagpuss and the Clangers so totally understand where he was coming from.
