It's good that Screenwipe does these little specials. I don't want to see the show like this every week, but it's a show about the workings of TV as well. So it was great to see the writers of some of my favourite shows discussing what inspires them and how they work.

Was a very interesting show, but it wasn't Screenwipe.

It was boring. I switched off after 10 minutes.

It could have been potentially interesting, but I tried to keep my eyes open (literally!)

I would have liked to have heard the comments from some great American TV writers like David Milch from The Sopranos. Anyway normal service will be resumed next week on the show. Reviews and swearing!

I don't know how anyone with a genuine interest in television could dub it as "boring" - it was interesting in an educational way even if you didn't enjoy it on an entertainment level. Wholly not what I was expecting from this week's episode, but a quality piece of television nonetheless.

I must say, I found the interview with Tony Jordan particularly enlightening.

I thought the programme was very interesting and enjoyable, although I think it might have sat better as a one-off special at another time of year instead of part of the main run of Screenwipe.

Actually that would have worked better.

My thoughts exactly - if I had seen this as a one off special in the schedules knowing it was Charlie Brooker and the subject matter then I would have watched it anyway.

The synopsis was perhaps deliberately misleading is that it went so far as describing the show as "Charlie meets the writers" which already because it's Charlie Brooker you're thinking "Ah ok, how is he going to take the piss out of TV writing then?" but instead it was a sober look at what makes some of these great minds tick - which don't get me wrong was great to watch as well.

I'll be glad though that it's normal service resumed next week. And I agree with a few people that it's good we've got a BBC like this that is prepared to give the airtime to a few people chatting that isn't Loose Women. You just can't imagine ANY other broadcaster in this country going for it.

It is strange, that in this current run of 'the wipe' we've only had one edition that can be classed as a normal episode, the first one. Last weeks was an advertising deconstruction piece, and this week was the very watchable (incase anyone things I'm having a go) tv writers show.
Presumably the next couple of weeks will be normal Screenwipes, and the Tuesday before Christmas will be a review of the year?

Makes me think, that the 2nd and 3rd editions of this series were recorded maybe as one-off specials and BBC Four /Zeppotron held back the TX'ing of them and lumped them altogether to pad out a regular series.

I don't know, there was the news special last year so it's not unheard of, and Charlie mentioned him writing Dead Set in the past tense this week, so they must have fimed that fairly recently as well
