Not sure what they are using to archive news broadcasts - but loads of the clips had been zoomed a bit and not uniformly (i.e. different BBC clips had been zoomed differently). Wonder if this was to get rid of 14:9 pillarbox bars needlessly?

I've noticed Screenwipe aren't particularly bothered about the quality of their clips. They've used VHS on a lot of occasions as well as YouTube. When they use Sky Plus, they often leave the play logo on-screen in the corner of clips. I imagine they probably record even BBC stuff rather than source it direct a lot of the time.

The older stuff was obviously obtained from the BBC itself as it was good quality. Presumably this stuff aired before they knew they were making the programme and therefore didn't have anything recording it

Economics lecturer was using the part about the sub-prime morgatges this morning, was nice to see other people agree with me about finding Charlie Brooker funny. It explained it better than the lecturer too, standards these days eh?

Very good show and the next episode sounds good.

I was hoping the titles where more like the Screenwipe special than original titles, the old BBC News look would be better.

I quite liked the title and the astons, though the set was a bit off. The front of the desk changed between some shots (white bits or black bits next to the Newswipe logo), and it certainly suffered from having to intercut the scenes filmed in the London view studio with the more up to date stuff, which is filmed in the closest thing they have to a standing set... Charlie's house.
