I honestly don't understand how that man has such a mass following of fans. He's nothing more than a fat bloke trying to be funny and failing in my opinion - not to mention the size of his ego because of it.

Because he's a very talented radio presenter and has a very entertaining show.

I agree he's great on the radio, but has never been able to really make his mark on TV. It's the quiz element ruining this show - if it was just a straight forward chat show I think it would be a lot more entertaining.

Ditto, I sometimes don't agree with what he says, but it makes me laugh on the way to college in the morning.

He always looks a bit uncomfortable on TV. His chin(s) and lack of neck make him look odd in a shirt. Recently on TV (when guesting on other people's shows) he's been coming across a bit, er, camp... ironically

Enjoyed Newswipe tonight. Smile

The female reporter they had was very good, and Charlie was his usual grumpy self. Very Happy

It will be on iPlayer soon - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00jf3hx/Newswipe_Episode_1/

Nothing about Jade Goody - perhaps he's saving that for next week.

Very good show all round and great insights once again.

Superb! I did notice they credited Five News as ITN/Five when it should be BSkyB/Five. Surprised

Although it's up to date, it's clearly themed with bits slotted together rather than just mostly done within the week. Could turn up, may be in a few weeks though: I imagine an episode on celebrity culture?

Next week:
Charlie Brooker sets his satirical sights on news and current affairs. In charting the rise of the public's role in making the news via vox pops and mobile phone footage, Brooker examines the good, the bad and the absurd in citizen journalism. Plus, reviews of two big stories making the news, controversial authored pieces, a poem and much more.

Also, from Twitter:
Thx for nice comments. Recording some PTCs for next week's show right about... now.

Perhaps a deliberate omission.

Excellent start. Sharp and very thought provoking - especially the comments of the forensic psychologist cut together with the coverage of the German killer.

He's effing brilliant.
