Finally. Ding dong the wicked witch is dead. Or something like that.

In all seriousness, this had to happen. Let's hope his successor comes in and makes huge changes - we don't want some pussy coming in and saying, "I'm going to change very little".

It's a huge challenge, that's for sure.

Agreed with pad, but one thing that just can't or shouldn't happen is getting the regions back. That would use up so much money. They should concentrate on the programming for the moment.

ITV may be hard up, but are they really at the stage where they'll employ animals? Razz Ok, maybe they crossed that barrier already Rolling Eyes

Perhaps they should bring back Michael Green who lost out to Charles Allen when Granada first merged with Carlton.

Of course I'm joking.

Wink

I'd wager 50p that Mr Green is probably smirking at this news though...

Apparently he's to get quite a hefty golden handshake. Had I been on the ITV board his exit would have been a lot quicker and cheaper - it would have involved a boot, his backside and a P45. Mr. Green

One thing for sure, his forthcoming address at the Edinburgh Television Festival should now turn out to be quite an interesting one.

Or go completely down the route of major cutbacks and running it as a business first that happens to make programes. Doing as much as they can to appease shareholders and the city.

I think it could go either way, but with multi-channel, ITV are fighting a loosing battle.

well He thinks he was doing a good job!

""" Allen said he was proud of what he’d achieved in his two-and-a-half years at the helm. “I am particularly proud of the work that my colleagues have done in creating one of the top production companies in Europe, building the leading commercial family of digital channels, creating the foundations of our consumer business and building confidence in our national and regional news," he said earlier today.
Investment analysts say that despite the poor performance of the flagship ITV1 channel, Allen has done a pretty good job on the corporate side. The trouble is that most of the commentary is from the creative media, who have not liked his approach to programme making."""

your level of stupidity sounds fake. surely it's not possible.

How much control does CA actually have over programming though? I'm not sure of the command structure at ITV, do they have channel controllers and stuff like at the BBC?
