I think that channel 4 has the best ones i have ever seen, they are done with so much care and attention put in to them and i haven't seen seen one i don't like yet,
but then you look at uktv people and the words old and horrid spring to mind.
please tell me your's, i'm quite interested to know.
Channel 4 have the best idents .Then the BBC 1 idents gets my vote .Not keen on the BBC 2 New look i liked the old one .
Don't get the Five idents either i liked them when they had FIve on the idents.
ITV 1 are the worst idents i just don't get them very dull bring back the Border chop sticks for us here in Border land.
I think the terrestrial one is obvious - Channel 4 - so how about as well we comment on what the digital stations are up too...
E4 definately has the best overall presentation - but their actual idents let them down. They desperately need bringing more in line with the look - even if it's putting a huge purple E4 in the scene with the band, rather than the old white logo (which isn't really used in any other part of the stations identity now) slapped in the corner.
I quite like Five Life - both the idents and package as a whole work pretty well - all fairly simple, but very effective.
I love C4's pres at the moment, The best ident's i've ever seen are the BBc '2s' of the '90s. They were amazing!, paticularly the music on Neon and Paintpot!
The worst idents i've ever seen are UKTV Golds and ITV's.
One thing i have noticed, that BBC one's idents are all of a sudden growing tired on me. I thought they were okay to start with, but they have grown old and boring, and i suddenly think that it needs to be fresh, new and over all Exiting!!
The current BBC 2s are brilliant and so is the music that accompanies them.
By comparison, Five is far superior to UKTV Gold now - this new Spacehoppers idea could have been pulled off well, but sadly most of it comes across as visually sloppy to me; ordinary looking locations which entirely lack polish.
As for Five it probably technically has close to double the amount of idents since introducing variants with the word 'five' as the actual logo, which was a good move IMO; I think they still switch between the two variants for each ident, but I always found it odd how idents that don't even display the channel name or number were used, originally....
BBC 2, while outdoing it's sister channel on One and being a close rival to Channel 4 (more than likely having the potential to match it, should Network start switching up their idents and stings a bit more), it has still fallen just short of its own high standards that it set in the past 16 years.
I find the family of ITV channels have quite bland idents, or ideas that try to move away from traditional styles and the execution fails. I shan't go into great detail but nothing has ever come close to 'hitting the mark' - comparing to the squares that preceded, the dip is considerable.
